Charbax has got a hands-on video for us, and it’s the dazzling new Archos 9 PC Tablet. This big multimedia Wndows 7-running PMP is supposed to support multitouch screen. The UMPC is amazing, resistive touchscreen responds very well to the fingers or the stylus. It’s also equipped with mouse buttons. There’s a webcam, a USB, virtual keyboards… for $500 total.

After being burned so badly by the Archos 705 WiFi, which has HORRIBLE sound
quality and TERRIBLY low volume levels (all headphone references, not the
little in-unit speakers, which, of course are low).
Further, Archos tech support was shoddy at best! In fact, I have never even
been contacted by anyone who actually works for Archos. All of the tech
support in the U.S. seems to be farmed out to sub-contractors.
All-in-all, despite an investment of over $800 (the unit itself, docking station,
add-ons, etc.), the Archos unit and company have remained a huge disappointment.
I would highly recommend staying clear of Archos until they prove themselves.
