HP Mini 110 3.5G-capable netbook now Available from Rogers in Canada

In a landmark move, Rogers has just included the HP Mini 110 netbook as part of its product line-up. They’re the first mobile carrier in Canada to offer up a netbook to subscribers aside from the usual mobile phones.

The HP Mini features the usual Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, and WiFi found on other netbooks, but what sets this apart from the rest of the pack is its generously-sized keyboard and 3.5G connectivity. Built to offer up the digital road warrior with the best of both worlds (WiFi and mobile internet via 3G), the HP Mini 110 looks like an identical twin of the HP Mini 1000 albeit being slightly smaller, a bit thicker, heavier and lacks Bluetooth. It’s certainly a nice addition to Rogers’ collection and provides their subscribers with a decent alternative that is more functionality than the typical smartphone.

It’s available in Future Shop and Best Buy stores in Canada for a subsidized price of $299.99 on a 2-yr contract. It might seem a strange move for some, but for me, it’s the right and logical move for Rogers. How about you guys? Do you think mobile carriers should offer up netbooks or not?
