Sure, a $99 iPhone 3G may sound tempting, but considering how its completely sub-par compared to the new iPhone 3G S, it doesn’t necessarily make sense to keep it around especially when there ‘s a better device seated right next to it that buyers can simply opt to get. This is exactly what this leaked internal Rogers document supports.

According to the memo, the 8GB iPhone 3G will soon be phased out and replaced by an iPhone 3G S with the same storage capacity. We’re not exactly sure when this will be released or how much it’ll cost, but taking a hint at how Apple currently prices their iPhones, it’ll most likely be a $100 cheaper than the 16GB iPhone 3G S. With Apple traditionally having a Fall event every year, this is definitely something we will be keeping an eye out for.
