The International Business Times is reporting that as many as 5 million Apple iPhones are going to be made available to the Chinese people. Money has already been exchanged to the tune of ten billion yuan or about $1.46 billion, which is roughly $292 per iPhone.
The price of the 8G standard iPhone is set at about 2,400 yuan and the 16G may be sold at 4,800 yuan,” said Yu Zaonan, general manager of the customer development department of China Unicom in Guangzhou.
The $351 8GB iPhone and $702 16GB iPhones will have to compete with illegally imported Apple iPhones, which cost significantly less.
