Apple still hasn’t confirmed when exactly their annual iPod event will be held next month, but despite this, AppleInsider has gone on the record confirming that it will all go down on Sept 9. They also believe that Apple will finally debut the camera toting 3G iPod Touch in this event and a new iTunes with “social networking” features will also be unveiled. Sadly, though, for those of you expecting an Apple tablet to be announced, they feel that it won’t happen next month.
Anyway, before we get ahead ourselves, you should remember that all of these have yet to be confirmed, and at the end, this is still just a rumor for now. On a good note, however, September 9 isn’t that far away and this does give us something to get excited about for next month.

@Evan - 3G ipod touch means third generation.. Since itll be the third touch. Maybe theyll change the name since its confusing what with iphone 3G?

evan, its not 3G per se.. but 3G here means 3rd generation of Ipod touch .. hehe
I am waiting for this ipod touch 3g since last 15 days and i cant wait any longer. sometime i feel lyk going to the mall and get this 2g model,but then i prefer to wait.
hope that apple wont disappoint us by not adding camera to touch (which is why i am waiting).

I am a bit confused that how its possible to have 3G technology in ipod touch, as far as i know its must to have dual cameras for video calling by using 3G, and ipod touch didnt get an camera yet.
If somebody can make it clear please do so, help is apreciated.

3G here refers to the 3rd Gen iPod Touch, not 3G connectivity in mobile phones. It’s the same way people used to refer to the 2nd generation iPod Touch as the 2G iPod Touch. It’s no way related to the 3G technology used in mobile phones.
