Nokia N900

While T-Mobile subscribers rejoice at the official announcement of the Nokia N900 complete with its WCDMA 900/1700/2100 MHz bands, it appears that AT&T/Rogers followers need not be disappointed too much as there might still be hope for you guys. Based on what apparently is a reply from Nokia to a customer’s inquiry on an AT&T 3G compatible N900, it was disclosed that ‘an announcement will be forthcoming.’

Here’s a copy of the full reply:

Alvin,

You are correct, we’ve announced the Nokia N900 yesterday. We have not announced where it will be available but have just said that it will be released in select regions.

Regarding the network bands, you are correct – we announced a WCDMA 900/1700/2100 MHz bands. We have not made any announcements regarding an 850/1900/2100 MHz band device. An announcement will be forthcoming.

Thanks,
Joe

Of course, this isn’t official by any means, but you can’t deny that this does give AT&T/Rogers and other 850/1900/2100MHz band users out there a glimmer of hope. Here’s to looking forward to that announcement, and we’re seriously hoping that it will be made available before the Christmas season begins.

UPDATE: BGR reports that the correspondence between the two individuals was actually modified to include the last sentence that made it extra special. Thus, this rumor has officially been busted and puts to rest any speculation that an AT&T/Rogers compatible Nokia N900 will be released in the immediate future.
