100,000 Nokia Booklet 3G mini laptops being readied by Compal

While the jury is still out as to how Nokia will fare in the netbook market, it appears that the first tall order for the Finnish company will be to sell at least 100,000 units of their Booklet 3G mini laptop. That figure stems from a report that Nokia has just ordered 100,000 netbooks from Taiwanese ODM Compal. The said number of Booklet 3G mini laptops should be with Nokia by year’s end which will then, in turn, hand over the pressure to the mobile phone giant to dispose off these into the market. With a reported retail price of €575 or roughly $818 in US dollars, this will indeed be a challenge as most netbooks nowadays are definitely priced lower than that.

What do you guys think? Will the Nokia Booklet 3G be as successful as their mobile phone offerings or will it be an epic fail?
