We don’t exactly know what happened to the Motorola Calgary Android phone, but based on the latest flurry of leakages, it looks like the Motorola Droid will be Verizon’s first Android phone offering. Referred to in the past as the Motorola Shules/Sholes/Tao, the Motorola Droid boasts of a 3.7-inch 480×854 touchscreen display, 5-megapixel autofocus camera, full QWERTY keypad, WiFi, CDMA/EVDO Rev. A connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, ARM Cortex 500MHz processor, 256MB RAM, 512MB memory, a custom UI (no MotoBlur), face recognition app, and will ship with an 8GB microSD card included in the package. We’re not quite sure what version of Android it will be running on. However, given that Android 1.6 is out now, it’s safe to assume that this new Motorola slider will be loaded with that particular version.
An exact release date isn’t known yet, but rumor has it that its scheduled to launch within the month. Stay tuned folks because this looks like a good one.
