We were impressed when the Teclast T56 was unveiled. Here’s a well-designed PMP that takes nothing from the Apple iPod and iPhone and offers 1080p in the most straightforward way possible. We were waiting for the price announcements and date of release. Now here comes Chuwi with the same PMP and a 699 yuan ($102) price tag for the 8GB version.
It’s the exact same portable player that Teclast announced three weeks ago: 5-inch 800 x 480 pixel LED screen, metal casing. There’s no GPS mentioned, though. But then again we’d always thought the integrated GPS was a tentative feature. The 1080p high-definition video support, OTG, TV out and FM features are all here though.

Why do you say the Chuwi is a clone of the Teclast T56? Do you know when the Chuwi was announced? About three weeks ago; roughly the same time as the Teclast.
Why?
Do you know what’s inside both players? The same thing: A Telechips processor and Wolfson audio chip.
Why?
The answer to both is because Chuwi and Teclast (and RAmos and Sigo so far) buy the same mainboard from the same company and then wrap it in a case of their own design. Make a few modifications to the UI and voila…your very own 1080p player.
Most of these companies don’t design their own hardware anymore…if ever; they buy off-the-shelf solutions from providers, add a shell, and make minor tweaks to call them their own.
Do some research before tossing out words like “clone”; it’s good for your trackbacks but bad for your credibility.
