Geohot’s done it again! Beating the iPhone Dev Team to the punch, he’s just released an iPhone 3.1.2 jailbreak dubbed as blackra1n that not only works on the iPhone 3G S, but all versions of the iPhone and iPod Touch. It’s even compatible with the 3G iPod Touch though tethered. To boot it, you’ll have to rerun blackra1n again. This time around, it’s Mac users turn to be left in the dark as this maiden version of blackra1n only works with Windows. Geohot also reasserts the warning issued by the iPhone Dev Team for all those who have unlocked their iPhones – don’t upgrade to firmware 3.1.2 using iTunes. Once you’ve done this, the baseband can no longer be downgraded, and in effect, cannot be unlocked anymore.
So, are you ready to take this iPhone 3.1.2 blackra1n jailbreak for spin? If you do muster up the courage to try this out, don’t forget to hit us up in the comments section below as we’d certainly love to hear your take on this latest iPhone jailbreak.

i love my iphone. i have jailbroken the 2.2.1 firmware and the 3.0 firmware. i recently upgraded to 3.1.2 so i could have the mms capabilities, and i also downloaded the blackra1n software to jailbreak this new firmware. sad to say i hve tried 100 times with no luck gettin my phone jailbroken again. the steps seem so simple but for some reason the program gets stuck on running. i hit the top and the home button then it says its jailbroken, but nothing happens. sombody please help. i so miss all my cracked apps and cydia. this normal iphone sucks. i have been to youtube and read a bunch of walkthroughs, nothing seems to work. could it be my laptop or could i have downloaded a bad copy of blackra1n?

HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS JAILBREAK!?
October 26th, 2009 at 7:16 am
Hi my Iphone was Jailbroken using Redsn0w and then I Upgraded to 3.1.2 using iTunes 9.01. After that I tried to jailbreak my Iphone using Blackra1n but I keep getting to point where it says its running and then says waiting for re-boot but nothing happens. If I then disconnect my Iphone and connect it back to my PC iTunes says its in recovery modes and only way I can then get it to power back on is to do a restore.
Can anybody help?

Unlock iPhone 3g 3gs using blackra1n
November 3rd, 2009 at 3:06 pm
Disclaimer, forgive my noob like behavior….
I upgraded to the iphone 3g 3.1.2 firmware, and tried to jailbreak my phone (not jailbreak and unlock) with pwnage tool. unfortunately (cue noob act) i used it to make a custom .ispw of the 3.0 firmware. After entering DFU mode, i tried to restore the the custom built 3.0 firmware but received an error. But my problem is that when i try to restore the firmware to its original 3.1 firmware (iPhone1,1_3.1_7C144_Restore.ispw) i get the following error message.
The iPhone “iPhone” could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible.
Upon trying to restore to the OEM 3.0 firmware, or the custom built 3.0 firmware (from pwnage tool) i receive another error, which is the following:
The iPhone “iPhone” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1015).
I suspect that i need the 3.1.2 firmware to restore back to but am not sure. any help would be much appreciated. = )
