Here are some new details regarding Verizon and their Android offerings. The Droid brand name will not be limited to a single device. It will actually be the name for the carrier’s complete range of Android phones. Aside from the Sholes which is now known as the Motorola Droid, it’s also confirmed that the HTC Desire will also be part of Verizon’s new Droid family. It will be released on November 6th and dubbed as the Droid Eris. Info on its specs are pretty scarce at the moment, but based on what’s already been reported on the internet, it’ll come with HTC’s new Sense UI, 3G connectivity, and as you can see in the picture, a trackball for navigation. Another interesting thing to note with the Droid Eris is that it will be a full touchscreen device sans the QWERTY keypad which will surely help diversify Verizon’s Droid family – the Motorola Droid for QWERTY lovers and the HTC Droid Eris for those with an aversion to the full QWERTY keypad design. Pricing though wasn’t made available.
