Just announced is a drastic price reduction for the Garmin Nuvifone G60 GPS handset. The Nuvifone G60 started out earlier this year as a $300 handset on top of the two-year contract. Obviously, no one is buying the G60 for that price, hence the huge price cut. I wonder whether Garmin would be offering rebate for those people who’ve bought into the joke for the original asking price.
Garmin’s sales pitch for the newly priced G60:
Are you thinking about getting a nüvifone G60? Don’t forget to check out Amazon. They now have it for $99 when purchased with a new service plan. If you’re still on the fence about the purchase, you should check out our newest set of nüvifone G60 videos, which focus on a few of the nüvifone’s unique location capabilities — premium connected services and camera with geotagging. Premium connected services includes real-time traffic updates, white pages, weather, movies, local events and fuel prices. These features are extremely helpful when you’re out and about because they provide you with the information you need to make good decisions like where to buy the cheapest gas and what roads to travel to avoid traffic.
The Nuvifone G60 is a fully featured touchscreen phone with a 3MP with geotagging support. It might have been a great investment two or three years ago but as it looks too much like the iPhone and only functions a bit better on the navigation side (it’s a true GPS phone), it’s suffering from being an apparent redundancy.
