Tomorrow, we will officially see if DroidDoes will live up to its name. The Motorola Droid is by all accounts the best Google Android phone yet. It also has a QWERTY keyboard that slides out from behind the face. Before you think you can get your hands on a Motorola Droid tomorrow, it’ll only be the official announcement.
The curtain will lift and we’ll probably get a chance to see an actual working unit in action. For now, the Droid is exclusive to Verizon and they’ve been campaigning with this assumption: it will be the enemy of the Apple iPhone. Thanks to Mobile Crunch for reminding us of the big event on October 28th.
And as for the specs, here’s a great preview from BGR. To summarize, most Android phones so far are a little short on the specs. The Droid bucks the trend. Excerpt:
When the Motorola Droid is released in the coming couple weeks, it will be the most advanced Android device on the market as far as specifications go. Software too, as it’s the only one said to be running Android 2.0 until months from now, but that’s for another section. There’s a 550MHz Texas Instruments OMAP3430 processor, separate PowerVR GPU, 256MB of RAM, CDMA Rev A., Wi-Fi, GPS, a digital magnetometer, accelerometer, proximity sensors, a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with dual-LED flash, notification LED, four touch-sensitive navigation buttons, a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard, 3.5mm headset jack, microUSB port — jesus.

Too bad it does not have the BEST feature of the G1, the tilt out mic. That stupid looking tilt is the only reason my G1 which has been dropped hundreds of times still has a screen.
