Opinion: Motorola Droid is the ‘iPhone’ of Verizon

Google Android, Mobile Phone

If you look back at recent history, one may consider the iPhone as the main conduit in the proliferation of touchscreen phones today. The iPhone also not only marked the entry of Apple into the mobile phone biz, but more importantly, through its exclusivity on AT&T, became a signature device for the US carrier that no doubt helped them rake it a substantial amount of earnings.

The same could probably be said of the Motorola Droid as it has the makings of a landmark device for Verizon. Sure, the QWERTY-touchscreen combo is nothing new, but the way the device is completely packaged is truly something to emulate and sets the standard for future Android devices. It’s slim, fast, and feature-packed. What more could you ask for? If there are iPhone killers lining up to shoot down the iPhone, I won’t be surprised if there will be a couple of Droid killers queuing up down the road to take this baby down.

Personally though, I don’t see iPhone aficionados dropping their beloved Jesus phones anytime soon for the Motorola Droid. With that being said, I’m pretty sure though that those who had their doubts about the Android platform will now have change of heart once they get a hold of the Motorola Droid, and this will be as big a hit for Verizon as the iPhone was when it first debuted on AT&T. How about you guys? What’s your take on the Motorola Droid?
