Nokia has taken some serious hits with regards to their aging Symbian platform. So it’s not surprising that the main topic at the recently concluded Nokia Capital Market Day was the future of the Symbian operating system.

They didn’t go into specifics as to what it’ll be like, but they did promise to “deliver a major product milestone before mid-year 2010, and another major product milestone before the end of 2010.” They also disclosed that more touchscreen and/or QWERTY devices will be released next year, and in the 2H of 2010, the successor of the Nokia N900 mobile computer will also be unveiled along with its spanking brand new Maemo 6 software.
These are definitely fighting words from the current champ which sends the message to their contenders in the mobile phone industry that they’ve still got a thing or two up their sleeves. Be that as it may, we’re willing to wait and see how their new Symbian OS will actually perform in the real world before we pop the proverbial celebratory champagne.

All of my phones for 9 years from 1998 are Nokia, before I switch to being a fanboy. Will someone tell Nokia to please replace their venerable antiquated typeface that probably have existed since the 5110 single-band phone and still in use in the N97.
Apple does not allow customization with iPhones. While Nokia allows customization, but surprisingly leaves typefaces or fonts behind.
