Nokia N900 to get FireFox Mobile

Mobile Phone, Software

fennec

Fennec is a cute little desert fox and it’s also the codename of FireFox mobile edition. I myself have been finding FireFox on my Mac a little troublesome of late so I find this news a little too difficult to be excited about (maybe a year ago would’ve been different). Anyway, the Nokia N900, which runs on Maemo, will be the first handset to get the taste of FireFox mobile. Maemo OS is already using a cousin of FireFox’s based on Mozilla’s Gecko engine.

The FireFox mobile will not ship yet on new Maemo phones until Q3 2010, but Nokia N900 owners can download the beta version here. First release candidate next week and final version in the weeks to come. Video after the break.
