ovi-store-n96-nokiaBeing a leader in the mobile phone industry, it must take a lot of guts for Nokia to admit that their product isn’t exactly working to perfection especially when a newbie like Apple managed to get it right on their very first try. No, it’s not the iPhone we’re talking about, but rather, their App Store. Nokia launched the Ovi Store just this year to compete head-on with the Apple App Store, and now, George Linardos, head of Nokia’s media group, admits that they ”had been outpaced by Apple.” They’ve actually done such a poor job with the Ovi Store that, in fact, it’s now headed for an overhaul where they hope to address the numerous complaints they’ve received in the next version of their mobile app store. The Ovi Store is expected to be relaunched spring of next year with a new interface that makes browsing of apps easier, support in-app payments, and provide recommendations as well.

We’re not quite sure what it will look like, but if everything goes according to plan, a fresh new Nokia we’ll definitely be surfacing next year when they’ll also debut their new Symbian OS. Good luck Nokia! Hopefully, this time around, you’ll be able to hit a homerun of your own.
