The word is that the Google Phone (aka Nexus One) is an HTC hardware. I find that entirely believable, if not obvious (based on the photo above, which was posted on Twitter). Anyway, the important part of this nearly confirmed rumor is that the Google Nexus One should represent what the search giants wants a Google Android phone to be. The specs make me tremble: Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, OLED touchscreen. Google will sell the Nexus One directly with no wireless exclusivity to go between the company and consumers.
The problem is other Android supporters that Google might be stepping on. It is said the Nexus One will use the latest Android 2.1 firmware update. This could be an entirely revamped operating system. The software, no doubt, will be a big deal for the Nexus One as hardware-wise, the lack of QWERTY and its ordinary HTC looks makes it an unconvincing competitor of the best smartphone this year. Frankly, I can’t wait for Nexus Two.
