Here’s some news for you iPhone user out there. iPhone OS 3.1.3 might just be around the corner, and more importantly, the next major update, iPhone OS 4.0 is already being tested as well. Details are still pretty scarce at the moment, but this is confirmed courtesy of BGR’s logs as shown below.

We haven’t got a slightest clue as to what iPhone OS 4.0 will feature, but taking a hint from the recent iPhone apps we featured (the latest Fring version and Knocking Live), native video calling support could be one of them. We also can’t forget one of the top requests from most iPhone users – multitasking – and probably a better way to manage battery life without having to shut down push notifications wouldn’t hurt either. One thing’s for sure though, this new iPhone OS should fit in quite nicely with the release of the 4G iPhone next year.

The new version may include multitasking feature and a better way to manage battery life without having to shut down push notifications. And the most expected feature the updated OS will be carrying is the compatibility with the 4G iPhone
