iPhone BTstack Keyboard app: Connect your Jailbroken iPhone to a Bluetooth Keyboard

We’ve seen some iPhone keyboard hacks in the past, but this latest one, looks to be the most convenient and readily available one right now.

The BTstack Keyboard app which is now available at the Cydia store and retailing for $5 allows you to connect your iPhone to a wireless Bluetooth keyboard for some physical full QWERTY keyboard fun on your Apple touchscreen mobile phone. Needless to say since this app is only available at Cydia, you need to have a jailbroken iPhone get this app and make this work.

To jailbreak your iPhone, just pick your iPhone 3.1.2 jailbreak of choice – Geohot’s blackra1n iPhone jailbreak or the iPhone Dev Team’s PwnageTool.

A warning about 2g iPhones: I have eagerly awaited this stack and decided if it failed I would “write it off” as support for the dev’s efforts. I found on my 2g iPhone while searching for my 1st and 2nd gen Apple BT Keyboards the app found my second gen keyboard once but I couldn’t select it and a second (nearly) successful attempt I was allowed to select the keyboard but the device would not connect. However, usually the Keyboard app just searches to no avail.

I deactivated SBSetting’s BT toggle and can, occasionally, see the keyboard but it will not connect. I do not believe this is ready for 2g iPhones.
