We didn’t think this would happen but the iPhone’s non-calling sister, also known as iPod Touch (a.k.a. iTouch) has outpaced it in sales this Christmas. Flurry Media, the same outfit that gave us predictions of a glowing iPod Touch future has updated their numbers for the holidays. They don’t have direct evidence of a spike in iPod Touch sales but based on iTunes App Store activity, there have been more downloads using the iPod Touch than iPhone for the first time since these two devices have been introduced. The numbers are dipping now but at one point, there have been ten times more App downloads on the iPod Touch compared to regular days. Read more at Gigaom at the link below.

The article also states that the iPhone was the biggest selling phone, so including walkman phones in that wouldn’t change the results unless walkman had sold more than the iPhone.On a sidenote, I agree it was ridiculous of Engadget to even mention the “caveat”. Sony sold more MP3 players, that’s all there is to it. Phones shouldn’t count.

Great, the Apple iTouch was a big seller ….
Now Apple, can you FINALLY release the iTouch
with the camera and built-in microphone, as it
was supposed to have LAST FALL!
I’m getting tired of looking at purchasing a new iTouch that
has basically had NO HARDWARE updates since it
came out in the 2nd generation model … almost TWO
YEARS AGO!
Come on Apple …. move it on the release of a really new
iTouch, otherwise I start looking at purchasing a competitor
product that DOES have the camera, built-in microphone, FM
radio, etc., etc., etc….. that the iTouch DOESN”T!
