The Motorola Droid has been getting the most attention over at Verizon as of late, and we can understand why. However, if you look back to the early part of 2009, that actually wasn’t the first Android phone we were expecting from Motorola. It was the Motorola Calgary. 2009 came to a close without us hearing about it again. Today, however, in the first weekend of the brand new year, we finally have a snapshot of an actual working model (well, we can’t really tell if it’s working, but that’s what we’d like to think).

Rumored specs include WiFi, GPS, an optical trackpad, 1420mAh battery, MotoBLUR, and we’re guessing Bluetooth and a 5-megapixel camera is somewhere there as well. There’s no SIM card slot though which will probably turn-off consumers who are planning to use this phone on another network.
The Motorola Calgary will become available on Verizon as the Droid Devour. As to when this will exactly happen, we still don’t know. Hopefully though, Motorola won’t delay any further and announce their new QWERTY touchscreen Android phone at either CES or MWC.

The Nexus One is sure to steal the show in 2010.
