If you thought the Kindle DX was going to be as big as it gets for e-book readers, better think again.

The Skiff Reader is the latest entrant in the e-book reader market scene and it brings along with it a generously-sized 11.5-inch 1600×1200 resolution touchscreen, the largest at the moment, which supports both finger and stylus input. The larger display will no doubt come in handy when viewing magazines and newspaper layouts on it.

Apart from that, it also comes with WiFi connectivity, 3G connectivity, a 3.5mm jack, mini-USB port, and 4GB internal memory albeit limited to a little over 3GB for content complemented by an SD card slot for additional storage.

It also looks to quite durable as well based on the press shot above of it being bent. The Skiff Reader is headed for Sprint later this year with a still unknown retail price.
Can the Skiff Reader take down the Kindle DX? There’s no question the Skiff Reader looks good and appears to have what it takes to rival Amazon’s e-book offering, but in the realm of e-book readers, content is key and Amazon clearly still has the advantage in this department. It’s good competition, but we highly doubt the Kindle will be surrendering its thrown anytime soon.
