Last year, Coby had an awful time at CES 2009, and they didn’t do themselves any favors by showing up with a the MP836, a touchscreen player that didn’t impress anybody, especially Engadget. Yesterday was a reunion of the two: Coby, have their MP837 iteration and Engadget their usual selves. As would be expected from a company serious about its own financial health, the Coby MP837 turned out to be quite the little charmer: the 3-inch touchscreen with haptics is responsive and the user interface actually showed up. It plays 22 hours of music, including the OGG container for music files as well as Flash, XviD and H.264 video formats. PMP Today will wait for pricing and availability of the Coby MP837.
