Mobile Phone, WiFi Internet

We’re still not quite sure if the newly announced LG GW990 is a MID or a smartphone, but one thing’s for certain though, this baby definitely comes loaded.

LG GW990

Unlike most phones which run on a Qualcomm chip, this touchscreen device has an Intel Moorestown processor running under the hood complemented by a Moblin OS which is the preferred Linux OS of choice for Intel-based MIDs hence the notion that this is a MID.

However, apart from that, it also comes with a SIM card slot beside its microSD card port which is why we’re also considering this as a phone as well. It could just be for mobile internet connectivity va 3G, but we’ll probably only know for certain once its finally ready for commercial release (though we’re more inclined to believe that it’s a super-smartphone). Rounding out its other specs is a 5-megapixel AF camera with LED flash and HD video recording capabilities, a large 4.8-inch 1080×480 resolution touchscreen, 720p video out, 512MB RAM, 32GB internal memory, and an 1850mAh battery as its power source.

The LG GW990 is expected to become available in the second half of the year with a yet to be known price. LG also promises that it will come with other OS options when it’s finally released in the market.
