Last year, rumors surfaced that an Android-powered HTC HD2 was in the works. 2009 eventually ended and we haven’t heard anything about it since then. Fortunately though, this 2010, we now have this: HTC Supersonic. Based on the provided image and reported specs, this looks well suited to play the part as the Android counterpart of the HD2. The HTC Supersonic boasts of a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5-megapixel AF camera, 1GB ROM, and a similar sized 4.3-inch touchscreen but ups the ante with an AMOLED display. It runs on Android 2.1, just like the Nexus One, and is apparently scheduled to debut on Sprint in the US this March complete with WiMax connectivity. Apart from the Android OS and WiMax support, the Supersonic also sports a larger battery and a rear kickstand to help further differentiate it from the Windows Mobile-powered HTC HD2. Pricing, however, is still yet to be known.
