Ahead of the Apple iPad launch, X2 has released the Windows 7 iTablet. Yes, a non-Apple iTablet and it is available in many sizes from 10.2 inches to 12.1 inches. It is powered by a 1.6 GHz processor and employs a hard-disk storage giving this baby a 35mm thickness, which is really thick. In exchange for the bulk, you get 250GB of memory, 3 USB ports and an HDMI out aside from WiFi, Bluetooth and a 1.3 MP webcam. The X2 iTablet also runs on Linux and is available in many colors. No pricing yet and this is a UK-only announcement, but this sounds like Apple iPad has been slapped with a glove.

X2 itablet at 1.2Kg is much to heavy to cart about unless you’re a weight-lifter.
Ipad is just under .70Kg and that is still to heavy to hold in one hand unless……

So can you use this tablet w/ out a stylus? No,, I think what all the neh-sayers are missing is “TOUCH”. Windows is NOT a touch controlled program. You need a stylus,, and then try and hit the little scroll bar. I would love to see someone that might have some sight issues try to get around a tablet like this. You might as well get a computer. The whole idea of a table (in apples opinion and mine) is the ease of use. I dont have to find the little pen looking thing to make it work,, I dont need to be able to trouble shoot software,, it just works. Microsoft and other software providers should open their eyes,, the future is touch and gestures, not pens and mice. That means the software has to be re-written.

It’s true that 1.2kg may be heavy for a portable device, and in a presentation, prolong use could well tone you muscles.
Other than that, this bit of kit is worlds apart from the iPad, which I feel has suffered severe nostalgia. This time, the Windows machine has a clear and decisive edge, and the only thing that the iPad will have is it’s hype, popularity on design, UI and OS, and hardcore fan base who eat more Apples than doctors would advise.

“X2 has released the Windows 7 iTablet” but the photo is running XP. Does this mean that we will be able to change operating systems?
I love the idea, except it does seem a bit to heavy and the battery life also worries me with all those features…will it last through our 4 hour meetings?
Cannot wait to give it a go!
