Samsung has high hopes for their first Bada-powered phone, the Wave S8500. As a matter of fact, they’re expecting to sell 10 million Samsung Wave phones by the end of this year. Too ambitious?
It’s hard to tell right now since we still don’t know how much they’re willing to sell the Samsung Wave. However, given that Samsung already has a devoted following of their own and with this full featured super AMOLED touchscreen-equipped phone scheduled to become available in 50 countries by mid-year, we don’t see them having too much of a problem moving inventory of the Wave once it hits retails stores across the globe. For those not familiar with the Wave, this baby packs a 3.3-inch super AMOLED touchscreen, 5-megapixel AF camera with flash, 720p video, WiFi (802.11b/g/n), HSDPA connectivity, TouchWIZ 3.0, and is the first and currently only Bluetooth 3.0 enabled phone.
As far as the Bada platform is concerned, they hope to have at least 1000 apps available for their proprietary mobile OS by the end of the year . If they do this much sooner, then we’ve no doubt that more people will have less apprehensions on getting on-board their Bada initiative.
