The tablet is getting a boost from the recent Apple iPad announcement and even manufacturers who would rather be making PMPs are getting the bug. JXD, for example, has announced the 7-inch touchscreen Venus A30. It’s tabletish form factor is desperately in need of a WiFi connection, which unfortunately isn’t available–at least in the first iteration. The Venus A30 supports 768p video playback, which can be played via HDMI out. Sadly, the big screen only has a 800×480-pixel resolution. Otherwise, you can play RM, RMVB, AVI, FLV, MP4, VOB, MOV, 3GP, MPG, DAT as well as lots of music files including FLAC and APE lossless. No pricing yet, but without WiFi expect it to be only slightly higher than $100.
