Here’s good news for you folks out there in the US who have been holding out on getting an iPhone 3G S because of its near $200 price tag. Walmart has just lowered their retail price for the 16GB iPhone 3G S on a 2-year AT&T contract to just $97 from a high of $199. That’s a whopping $102 worth of savings! If that isn’t good enough for you, I don’t know what is. Of course, if you bite into this delectable offer, you’ll be spending your money on a soon-to-be-outdated iDevice, but hey, if you’re not digging the new iPhone 4G that much, we don’t see much of a problem here.
On a similar note, the 8GB iPhone 3G seems to be no longer available at the Apple Store. While it’s still listed there, the select button has unceremoniously been removed strongly suggesting that it’s on its way out the door in preparation for the announcement of the 4G iPhone next month. So what’ll take its place in sub-$100 iPhone category? You’re guess is as good as mine that the iPhone 3G S will be demoted and soon be recommended as the iPhone for those working on a limited budget. Will both the 16GB and 32GB variants be retained once the iPhone 4G is released? We haven’t got the slightest clue, but if only one gets retained, we’re certainly hoping it’ll be the 32GB iPhone 3G S.
