The iPad was such a huge hit that Apple sold a record breaking 2 million units in just a span of two months. In the case of the new iPhone 4, it looks well on its way to eclipse that feat as the Cupertino-based company has just announced they’ve manage to sell 1.7 million iPhone 4 units in the first weekend alone. That’s just 300,000 units shy of the iPad’s record, and considering that the iPhone 4 has yet to become available in other countries, we’re pretty certain it won’t have much of a problem overtaking its heftier touchscreen sibling in terms of sales in the first few months of its release.
Add to that the fact that an iPhone 4 jailbreak will also soon be released, it’s almost a guarantee that once this new jailbreak is outed more folks will hop on-board the iPhone 4 bandwagon.
