Despite being a leader in the touchscreen phone segment of the market, HTC apparently has no plans of jumping on-board the tablet bandwagon and releasing an iPad rival anytime soon. HTC global PR and online community manager Eric Lin had this to say about the possibility of them entering tablet market:
“We are always looking at it, but, right now, the whole idea is that in order to be successful with a tablet, you need to have something compelling. And not just a compelling form factor. You need to find that compelling use, that compelling story, that one compelling feature. And we are not going to do anything until we have found that”
So there you have it folks straight from the horse’s mouth. That’s a clear no to the HTC Android tablet and Google Chrome Tablet rumor that surfaced earlier this year as far as the immediate future is concerned, but who knows, maybe 2011 will be a completely different story.
