For those not familiar with sn0wbreeze, this is the Windows counterpart of the iPhone Dev Team’s PwnageTool. It creates a custom iPhone 3.1.3 IPSW file based on an original one downloaded from the internet for iPhone and iPod Touch models running on the old bootroom.

Once you’ve gotten your iPhone 3.1.3-based device jailbroken, you can then proceed to unlock your iPhone. This, unfortunately, is limited to the current versions of blacksn0w and ultrasn0w both of which are still unable to hack baseband 05.12. Sn0wbreeze may not be as popular as Geohot’s blackra1n iphone jailbreak or the iPhone Dev Team’s PwnageTool/QuickPwn, but hey, it gets the job done, and as they say, the more the merrier, right?

No, this is not an external antenna accessory for the iPhone/iPod Touch nor is it a microphone plug-in. This is actually ThinkFlood’s latest IR accessory for the iPhone, the RedEye mini. This ultra-compact Infrared (IR) dongle easily attaches to the 3.5mm jack of any iPhone/iPod Touch (and is also compatible with the upcoming iPad), and when coupled with the free RedEye app available at the App Store, allows users to convert their iPhone/iPod Touch into a universal remote.

Interested? The RedEye mini IR dongle for the iPhone/iPod Touch isn’t available yet, but has already begun shipping to 47 countries. It’ll be ready for retail through their website this spring and will cost just $49.

On a good note, however, the team is proud to let everyone know that they’ve found a possible way to unlock the new 05.12 baseband. With that being said, it’s still too early to lay down a roadmap for this new iPhone unlock as they’ve yet to verify if it indeed works. Rest assured though, the iPhone Dev Team is hard at work in coming up with an appropriate unlock for the 05.12 baseband. All they request is some patience on everyone’s side so that no one will fall victim to scammers out there.

We didn’t think this would happen but the iPhone’s non-calling sister, also known as iPod Touch (a.k.a. iTouch) has outpaced it in sales this Christmas. Flurry Media, the same outfit that gave us predictions of a glowing iPod Touch future has updated their numbers for the holidays. They don’t have direct evidence of a spike in iPod Touch sales but based on iTunes App Store activity, there have been more downloads using the iPod Touch than iPhone for the first time since these two devices have been introduced. The numbers are dipping now but at one point, there have been ten times more App downloads on the iPod Touch compared to regular days. Read more at Gigaom at the link below.

Selling about 24 million units so far, the iPod Touch is the less popular sibling of the belle of the ball, the iPhone. But as we are keenly aware here at PMP Today, the iPod Touch has its own following, and we’re not merely talking about the iPod Touch clones. Many people, apparently still keep their portable entertainment gadgets separate from their smartphones.

According to mobile analytics firm Flurry, an approximate 40% of all devices running mobile Mac OS X are iPod Touches. Flurry goes even far enough to say that “While it is clear that the iPhone has significant short-term revenue value for Apple, Flurry believes that the iPod Touch holds more long-term strategic value for Steve Jobs and team.”

Stuart Hughes has recrafted the iPod Touch hardware and made it a 22 carat gold masterpiece using 149 grams of that gold. Actually, Stuart’s wife Katherine Hughes did the re-design thinking it absolutely necessary to remake the logo itself with 21 grams of gold housing 53 VVS1, colour F diamonds .

The jewels are as follows:

• 149 grams of 22 carat gold for the casing
• Apple logo has 53 VVS1, colour F diamonds set in 21 grams of 22carat gold
• 300 VVS1 diamonds colour  F in front
