iPhone 3.1.3 jailbreak tool sn0wbreeze is now available in v1.5.2 which addresses the issues concerning systems running on 64-bit Windows. Apart from that, file size has also been trimmed down to just 18MB, and is now much faster and more reliable.

For those not familiar with sn0wbreeze, this is the Windows counterpart of the iPhone Dev Team’s PwnageTool. It creates a custom iPhone 3.1.3 IPSW file based on an original one downloaded from the internet for iPhone and iPod Touch models running on the old bootroom.

Once you’ve gotten your iPhone 3.1.3-based device jailbroken, you can then proceed to unlock your iPhone. This, unfortunately, is limited to the current versions of blacksn0w and ultrasn0w both of which are still unable to hack baseband 05.12. Sn0wbreeze may not be as popular as Geohot’s blackra1n iphone jailbreak or the iPhone Dev Team’s PwnageTool/QuickPwn, but hey, it gets the job done, and as they say, the more the merrier, right?

It certainly sounds enticing for newbies who want to jailbreak their new iPhone/iPod Touch, but don’t be fooled, there is no such thing available right now. The PwnageTool 3.1.5 for iPhone OS 3.1.3 doesn’t work on those Apple devices that already have the new jailbreak-proof bootrom installed on it, and neither is a 05.12 baseband unlock in existence at the moment. It’s all just a scam.

On a good note, however, the team is proud to let everyone know that they’ve found a possible way to unlock the new 05.12 baseband. With that being said, it’s still too early to lay down a roadmap for this new iPhone unlock as they’ve yet to verify if it indeed works. Rest assured though, the iPhone Dev Team is hard at work in coming up with an appropriate unlock for the 05.12 baseband. All they request is some patience on everyone’s side so that no one will fall victim to scammers out there.

So, what’s the next best thing to do if you already own an iPhone or iPod Touch? You guessed it – convert your iPhone/iPod Touch to an iPad with the help from a few apps from the App Store and Cydia.

Winterboard is used to install the The Simple iPad theme while Shrink is needed to reduce the size of the icons. Check out the video above for the full instructions on how to go about porting the whole iPad experience to your iPhone/iPod Touch. Jailbreaking, first and foremost, is obviously a requirement here.

They don’t have direct evidence of a spike in iPod Touch sales but based on iTunes App Store activity, there have been more downloads using the iPod Touch than iPhone for the first time since these two devices have been introduced. The numbers are dipping now but at one point, there have been ten times more App downloads on the iPod Touch compared to regular days. Read more at Gigaom at the link below.

GrooveMaker® Reggae for the iPhone/iPod Touch released by IK Multimedia
Reggae music by anyone, everywhere

December 2009, Modena, Italy – IK Multimedia is proud to announce the release of a new application for the iPhone/iPod Touch: GrooveMaker Reggae. This new style-based app allows anyone to create and share non-stop reggae tracks for remixing, multimedia and movie soundtrack compositions on the go, in real-time, just like a professional DJ or music producer.

GrooveMaker has quickly become one of the top downloaded remixing applications for the iPhone/iPod Touch, allowing any user to create professional, full-length tracks in minutes, with its unique combination of advanced remixing software and high-quality included loops’ sound content. With 10 available applications in the GrooveMaker range, there are now over 2,800 high-quality fresh loops available for your remixes.

GrooveMaker allows for instantaneous control over 8 stereo loop tracks, making it possible to remix the included massive loop library of drums, bass, bass drums, lines, pads, percussion and effects. Its unique and patented randomization feature allows musicians to generate a vast number of remixes on the fly, with one touch, to produce millions of possible groove combinations.

Loops made in GrooveMaker can be manipulated in real-time (pan, volume, mute, solo, group and tempo) and grooves can be arranged easily by dragging and dropping to create full-length tracks. These tracks can then be saved, previewed and recalled on the iPhone/iPod touch devices or exported as hi-quality .WAV files to any computer using a Wi-Fi network.

The new GrooveMaker Reggae allows you to compose reggae, dub and dancehall tracks with walking bass, hypnotic chords and syncopated beats. Pure reggae grooves with thick low-end and heavy bass sounds, dampened guitars, staccato riffs and shuffle keyboards will transport you in the world of Rastafari, with beats coming straight from the roots. Includes 3 songs, plus 1 FREE song by registering, and a total of 252 loops in 80-78-80-92 BPM ranges for 332 MB of samples.

Pricing and availability:
The new GrooveMaker Reggae is already available on the Apple iTunes App Store for only $9.99/€7.99.

This brings the number of currently available GrooveMaker applications to 10 in addition to the currently available GrooveMaker Club, House, Hip-Hop, Techno, Trance, Electro, D’n’B and Rock versions. A fully functional GrooveMaker FREE version is also already available, so everybody can download it and start making music right away!

Selling about 24 million units so far, the iPod Touch is the less popular sibling of the belle of the ball, the iPhone. But as we are keenly aware here at PMP Today, the iPod Touch has its own following, and we’re not merely talking about the iPod Touch clones. Many people, apparently still keep their portable entertainment gadgets separate from their smartphones.

According to mobile analytics firm Flurry, an approximate 40% of all devices running mobile Mac OS X are iPod Touches. Flurry goes even far enough to say that “While it is clear that the iPhone has significant short-term revenue value for Apple, Flurry believes that the iPod Touch holds more long-term strategic value for Steve Jobs and team.”

If you think of the iTouch as an iPhone without the monthly rates, then you’re close to understanding the significance Flurry’s study. The iPod Touch is especially strong in social networking and games, activities that obviously have limitless growth potential. Hopefully, this is a prototype that’s about to be released, and it better take still photos. That means the iTouch will be the second iPod that will have a built-in camera after the iPod Nano 5G. The Examiner has a source who says that the 3rd generation iPod Touch was supposed to be announced last September but quality control has failed Apple. The problem is, it exactly the same camera that the Nano has, according to this source. Come on, Apple, make it a 3.2 megapixel at least.

How would you like to give yourself a cheapskate’s Christmas tech gift? Boy Genius Report is saying they have unconfirmed reports that the 8GB iPhone 3GS will be sold by AT&T at the cut-rate price of $99. If AT&T and Apple confirms this early, it might stave off a Droid invasion in the touchscreen smartphone market. The iPhone 3GS 16GB currently sells for $199 with contract, while the prvious model iPhone 3G sells for $99 with 8GB of memory. It means Apple fears Droid. An $100 decrease 8GB iPhone 3GS will not significantly decrease revenues… that is, if iPhone 4G wasn’t suddenly announced, which would make the price cut a simple act of clearing inventory.

Editor’s note: we wrongly stated that there will be a $100 decrease from the current iPhone 3GS model. No, the 8GB rumor is an entirely new model in addition to the current 16GB and 32GB iPhone 3GS.
