If your one of those type of guys, you might be interested in the iDongle, a portable device that you plug into the dock connector of the iPhone/iPod Touch which automatically jailbreaks iPhone 3.1.2-based devices complete with tethered boot. Unfortunately, as you can tell in the video, it’s still in development and there are currently only a dozen prototypes in the pipeline. They are accepting pre-orders though to raise enough funds to go into full production.

Scam? We don’t know for sure, but probably not since its iPhone 3.1.2 their jailbreaking. What’s even better is the iDongle’s software can easily be updated via USB opening the doors for an iPhone 3.1.3 jailbreak (or better yet, iPhone 4.0 jailbreak) to be installed on it in the future. iPhone unlocking isn’t supported though, but hey, that’s what ultrasn0w and blacksn0w is for.

They are not all amazing and, indeed, we don’t know the half of it, but try this: 3Tap and LongPress. If the names aren’t suggestive enough for you, word is that more gesture control will be available for the iPhone 4G via the next SDK. Perhaps the big news so far: real multitasking for the iPhone 4G, which will enable the phone to run multiple applications in the background at the same time. On top of these very fine rumors is a poll suggesting a Verizon iPhone is what customers really want. Very odd as I used to believe people want the iPhone for its advanced features, never mind the bad service they’re getting currently.

The current iPhone OS doesn’t support three taps, but it does long press which is used to bring up the copy/cut/paste menu. We’re not sure how this differs with the current long press gesture nor do we have an idea what 3 taps does. We’ll probably only find out once the iPad is released by Apple, but how about you guys? Any guesses on what these new gestures are for?

Given the current timeline Apple is working with (iPhone OS 4.0 expected to debut this June with the release of the 4G iPhone), it’s highly likely that the particular iPhone OS which will tie-up both devices won’t be available until iPhone OS 4.1. We’ve heard a lot from iPhone OS 3.2, and it might not be made available on the iPhone given that it’s got specific features and settings that’ll only work with the iPad. Add to that the possibility of iPhone OS 4.0 becoming available as early as June, just a few months away from the release of the iPad, we’re starting to doubt it as well. With iPhone OS 4.1, on the other hand, they’ve got more than enough time to plan it out and develop it accordingly.

Anyway, this is pure speculation at the moment, and with Apple, you never really know. For what it’s worth, if ever firmware 3.2 doesn’t get released for the iPhone, I’m pretty sure there will be some resourceful folks out there who will be able to port the iPad OS to the Apple mobile phone.

What’s even better is that it’s in the final stages of development already. We’re a bit skeptical though on the fun factor of this version since the iPhone since doesn’t exactly have one of the biggest touchscreens in the market today, but we’re totally digging Tekken for the iPad (if its compatible on the said device).

Will this be a completely new version of Tekken, a rehash of the original game, or an iPhone version of Tekken 6 for the PSP? No one knows for sure right now, but with Capcom also set to release Street Fight IV at the App Store as well, we’re guaranteed of a great showdown between these two renowned arcade fighter games on the iPhone platform.

Could this just be a typo error? Possibly, but we can’t discount the fact that there have been numerous evidence unearthed in the iPhone 3.2 SDK to strongly suggest that both the 4G iPhone and iPad will feature video calling functionality in the near future. Factor in this latest move by O2 UK, this leads us to believe that it’ll first debut with the 4G iPhone this year which, if Apple stays true to their previous launches, will finally become official this coming June.

Still skeptical about the whole iPhone video calling issue? Well, we can’t blame you especially since the other overly speculated Apple device, the iPad, totally didn’t live up to prior rumors and expectations. Anyway, with June fast approaching and the steady rise in iPhone 4G rumors, we’re pretty sure this will either be confirmed or busted within the next couple of weeks or so.

How close is this from the actual 4G iPhone? We don’t know for sure, but we do feel that some of this concept phone’s features might be stretching it a little bit too far.

The bigger touchscreen is understandable based on a previous report and since most of the iPhone’s competition have gone down the same route. However, we doubt that Apple will equip their new iPhone with a microSD card slot and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. A front-facing camera is highly possible given at what the iPhone 3.2 SDK has been able to provide us, but a 2-megapixel shooter is bit questionable especially since no one has chosen such an imaging sensor for a front-facing camera.

Likewise, based on the iPhone’s history, multi-colored versions of the 4G iPhone is a little doubtful at this point in time.

Anyway, we give the designer props for coming up with these iPhone 4G conceptdesigns. If not for anything else, this provides us with some eye candy while we continue wait for leaks of the iPhone 4G to finally surface.

No, this is not an external antenna accessory for the iPhone/iPod Touch nor is it a microphone plug-in. This is actually ThinkFlood’s latest IR accessory for the iPhone, the RedEye mini. This ultra-compact Infrared (IR) dongle easily attaches to the 3.5mm jack of any iPhone/iPod Touch (and is also compatible with the upcoming iPad), and when coupled with the free RedEye app available at the App Store, allows users to convert their iPhone/iPod Touch into a universal remote.

Rumors suggest the iPhone 4G will be a better smartphone with a 5MP camera, WiFi N, faster processor and AMOLED touchscreen. If Apple can reduce the price despite these feature advances, there’s no stopping it.

These icons were unearthed in the iPhone 3.2 SDK which suggest that the upcoming firmware will also boast of some photo editing capabilities apart from video calling. Based on the names of these icons, photo cropping and rotation will be some of the new features we should keep an eye out for when iPhone OS 3.2 begins to roll out. It’s a bit limited, but hey, they’ve got to start somewhere and who knows, by the time the 4G iPhone and iPhone OS 4.0 are both released, Apple may have a complete set of native photo editing tools available for iPhone users across the globe.
