Charbax has got a hands-on video for us, and it’s the dazzling new Archos 9 PC Tablet. This big multimedia Wndows 7-running PMP is supposed to support multitouch screen. The UMPC is amazing, resistive touchscreen responds very well to the fingers or the stylus. It’s also equipped with mouse buttons. There’s a webcam, a USB, virtual keyboards… for $500 total.

As far as specs go, the Archos 10s is pretty much the same with the Archos 10. It does, however, feature a more stylish design and offers it up in a slimmer and lighter package. As a result, it ditches the VGA port and Kensington lock slot. It’ll be available with your choice of a 3-cell or 6-cell battery later this month, though price is still yet to be known.

The Archos 13, meanwhile, comes with a 1.2GHz Celeron ULV processor, 13.3-inch LED back-lit 1280×800 pixel display, 120GB SATA HDD, and a 10-cell battery. This baby will be available towards the end of summer for $800.

The Archos Classmate PC needs no further introduction as it pretty much comes with standard features. Their version, however, includes a one year subscription to an online course service worth $400. Pricing, likewise, wasn’t disclosed, but being that this is, after all, a Classmate PC, this will be more on the affordable side.

So, what do you guys think of Archos’ new laptop offerings? Does it live up to the Archos name or does it fail in comparison to their PMP collection?

This is the new flagship product for Archos, the 9 PC Tablet and it will come out packing a Windows 7 OS. It has an 8.9-inch touchscreen and is powered by a 1.2Ghz Atom Z515 processor and has DVB-T. This isn’t really a departure from the original Archos devices like the Gen5 WiFi series except the obvious improvements on the processor and OS side. We also have ample warning about the Archos 9. Earlier this year, Archos has announced its interest in the MID or UMPC market and of course the Archos event today has been previously announced. We don’t know much about the product yet but the 80GB storage seems a little small. Price is pegged at 450 euros.

Just like the Archos 2 PMP, the Archos 3 looks like an OEM design and has a lot of unmistakable similarities with the Teclast M26. The Archos 3 has a 3-inch touchscreen and 8GB of storage, going for a very reasonable 100 euros or about $141. It has a relatively simple touchscreen UI compared to the Archos 5 and 7 and the Gen5 touchscreen PMPs called “virtual wheel.” There’s an FM tuner, audio recorder, clock and FM tuner.

Just in from Archoslounge (I just found the email a minute ago): Archos is said to be preparing 7th-generation Archos PMPs. The Archos 5 and 7 Media Tablets didn’t amount to much in terms of sales, so hopefully Archos learned very valuable lessons and will make these new set of PMPs with more user-friendly form factors. But maybe they haven’t and will actually make true those Archos MID based on Google Android rumors we heard some time ago.

If you’re not too keen on getting a high-capacity MP3 player, Archos has released a 4GB Archos 2 PMP, now available from a European online retailer. The Euro price translates to $53 (39.60 euros), which should go down once it hits Amazon, based on the 8GB Archos 2 they have on offer. Just a little pricier than the screen-less and button-less iPod Shuffle of the same capacity, but not quite a cheap MP3 player in our book.

The recent financial data of Archos must have put the fear of death in the company’s top executives. So bad were the numbers they cannot wait for the launch of the Archos MIDs, which were next in line for the Archos flagship brand. I’m quite sure the budget-friendly Archos 2 wasn’t in the Archos drawing board until about a little over a week ago when the numbers came.

The Ylfang Digital MP3 player

The specs are about the same, although Archos had to increase the screen size from 1.5 inches to 1.8. The Ylfang Digital MP3 player may be a little ahead in video support with the preloaded conversion software support every video format imaginable. See the orginal here. My theory is, Archos is so desperate to earn back the losses, it found this little spiffy player to sell under its own branding. It might just work for under $60.

We’ve heard about Archos plans to launch MIDs, but what about the smaller PMP market, would Archos be interested in refreshing its smaller line like the 105? The rumor mill says Archos may indeed be nearing launch on a 1.8-inch and 4-inch PMP models.

Archos 2 should be chrome, 8GB and retail between 50 and 60 euros. If the info is correct the 1.8-inch screen has a 128 x 160 resolution, the MP3 player will continuously play 12 hours of music or 4 hours of video. Archos 4 is more interesting with its 4-inch screen and 16GB-32GB storage. Obviously, if they can keep this large screen, non-WiFi, high-capacity Archos under $150 it’ll be a highly competitive player.

The beautiful Archos 5 and 7 Internet Media Tablets aren’t seeling hot enough for Archos, so the PMP manufacturer is trying a different tack… MIDs or mobile Internet device. What’s the difference between a MID and an Internet Media Tablet? I’m not so sure but it may have something to do with putting Google Android inside. The Archos Android MID is slated for a Q3 announcement or release.

Archos recorded losses in the tune of $24 million in 2008. Sales have dropped drastically. They are betting on the MID, which I hope will pay dividends.
