Archos A43VB PMP Video Demo

The uber-cool tech video journalist Charbax is at CeBIT and he’s got a hands-on of one of the new Archos PMP. The A43VB is a 4.3-inch touchscreen PMP that looks a lot like Teclast PMPs and should get some finishing touches pretty soon via Shenzhen, according to Charbax himself. The 8GB model has been offically priced by Archos at 99 euros or $135 USD. Sorry, no Android on this one.

Last year we saw Archos releasing a bunch of premium tablets. Obviously, the French company will try out the budget and mid-range PMP markets this year.

Archos Vision: It’s a PMP World

French portable media player manufacturer Archos is sticking to its roots this time around. No expensive Archos tablet, instead we have MP3 players and medium-sized PMPs galore. The Archos Vision series announced at CeBIT are as follows:

Archos A43VB Vision: 4.3-inch touchscreen, 8GB internal for 100 euros

Archos A30VC Vision: adds a camera on the Archos 3 Vision form factor. The 3-inch touchscreen player has 8GB of built-in memory and goes for 80 euros each.

There are two more Acrhos players, the tiny A14VG Vision priced at 35 euros and the A15VS Vision at 40 euros. Go to Dapreview to find out more.

Archos 3 Vision to rival iPod Touch

Archos has a new touchscreen device, and this time around, it’s taking aim at the iPhone’s equally impressive PMP twin, the iPod Touch.

The Archos 3 Vision boasts of a 3-inch touchscreen, FM radio complete with recording functionality, FM transmitter, USB 2.0 connectivity, 14 hours of music/4 hours of video playback, and 8GB storage capacity. Admittedly, the Archos 3 Vision is a far cry from what Apple has over at their stable since this PMP doesn’t even come with WiFi or Bluetooth connectivity. The iPod Touch clearly outclasses this baby in almost every department.

Be that as it may, the Archos 3 Vision should be a welcome treat for Archos fan boys looking for a basic PMP to add to their collection, and since its not heaping to the brim with features, it’s not that expensive either.

iPad to Directly Compete W/ Archos 9 Tablet?

All right, we weren’t too impressed with the Apple iPad specs–no multitasking, no webcam, no Flash–but then when the $499 price was announced, we were almost willing to overlook the downside of the Apple tablet. Apple is just genius. One of the worst product releases by the company in recent memory, the iPad still manages to astonish. Is there any way to compete? This post that I found over Myce might give us a clue on what the iPad is up against.

The Archos 9 tablet. With a smaller 8.9-inch touch-controlled widescreen, it offers more portability than the squarish Apple iPad. The Archos 9 also offers a faster 1.2 GHz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM and something called a webcam and a full computer functionality with Windows 7. There’s multitasking, lots of ports and connector, a selection of built-in hard-disk memory starting with 60GB, it can do many things what the iPad cannot. The Archos 9 is slightly thicker and comes with a steeper price but at around $550 for the 60GB and the all-important USB ports, it might just slip into the popular consciousness as an alternative to ipad.

Archos 7 Android Tablet w/ Flash Storage Leaked

There is of course an Archos 7 Tablet on the Archos site running on Linux. This new scoop from ArchosLounge points to an Android-based Archos 7 tablet. The specs also indicates a flash-storage device instead of a hard drive one. It should be the same 7-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen tablet with WiFi. The Archos 7 Android comes with a 180 euro price or about 150 British pounds.

Archos Phone Tablet Coming Soon

After the rumor has circulated that Archos is developing a smartphone with an Android OS, we pretty much have forgotten about it. But the ArchosPhone is real and it will most definitely come. Sure, Archos has no phone to show us at CES and sure enough this Android device will only be one in many such devices in the future but at least Archos will have tried and even if Archos fails to ake a dent in the smartphone market, the French company will have the competitive experience to make it in a world where every portable device can make calls or every phoe can do anything any portable device can. Convergence.

For now, Archos doesn’t seem to be moving away from previously announced specs: 1GHz ARM Cortex processor, 4.3-inch touchscreen with killer 854 × 480 resolution, 3.5G and dazzling multimedia capabilities.

Archos Vision 1 Start Sale

You can take an Archos Vision 1 home right now for 39.99 euros, officially. There’s no price in US dollars yet as it isn’t available Stateside. Hopefully, this cheap Archos PMP will be offered to American consumers before Christmas. There’s nothing like an Archos MP3 player or any cheap MP3 player, for that matter, to say the boss cares but don’t care enough to give everyone at the office iPods.

Specs: 1.5-inch screen, music only but includes APE and FLAC lossless, FM tuner and 21-hour battery life.

Archos 1 Vision Mini-PMP is OEM Friendly

French manufacturer Archos has been bitten by the budget bug lately. Despite the premium Internet tablets (e.g. Archos 5), the company has been keen on flooding the market with cheap mini-PMPs. The Archos Clipper, Vision 2 and Vision 3 have all come out this year to a pretty much disinterested public. And now they are releasing the 30-euro Archos Vision 1. The 1.5-inch LCD screen and lack of video support despite the name will not charm anyone but perhaps the price tag will. It supports MP3, WAV, WMA, APE, FLAC, music files and plays continuously for 20 hours at a single charge.

Archos 5 Internet Tablet Shipping Now

The Archos 5 Internet Tablet is now available for shipping at Amazon. The 160GB will set you back $389.99. Other capacities like the 500GB and the 32GB are not available yet.

The Archos 5 is a 4.3-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen PMP with WiFi, 3.5G connectivity and GPS. It supports HD TV out thru an HDMI output. Archos also makes available an optional DVR station. Other Archos 5 features: Web TV and Web Radio, multimedia content on the go thru Media Club, instant messaging, DroidIn, Twitroid, Deezer for music streaming, Dailymotion, ThinkFree Mobile, etc.

Archos has an Android Phone Tablet

Very, very interesting announcement today from Archos. No official name for the Phone Tablet yet but it’s touchscreen, shiny and equipped with a 1GHz ARM Cortex processor. It will be official unveiled with features and everything at the next CES. Other known features include 3.5G connectivity and a big 4.3-inch screen supporting an 854 x 480 resolution, also a 10mm slimness.
