Perhaps one of the most ambitious Chinese PMP manufacturer, Aigo wants to go head to head with Apple. The company’s latest announcement puts the Apple iPad in shame, at least as far as the bezel is concerned. Zol says it will run on Android. Not much information about the AigoPad for now but CEO Feng Jun confirms the company’s tablet ambitions. Release date is this year. Hopefully, it will look like the render photo above.

Everyone seems to be interested in going into the e-Book reader market, Aigo included. The EB6301 has a 6-inch e-Ink screen and some unique-looking buttons on the side besides the navigation buttons below the screen. It measures 164 × 127 × 11mm and looks just about right for an Amazon Kindle competitor. It doesn’t have WiFi but besides supporting a variety of text and e-Book formats (TXT, PDF, DOC, HTM, HTML, CHM), it fully supports MP3, WMV, WMA music files, which should play through the built-in speaker (no mention of audio jack) and JPG, JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG. The Aigo EB6301 has 2GB built-in and takes TF cards of up to 8GB in capacity.

The Aigo EB6301 has a 1200 mAh battery, which is similar in capacity to the Kindle and an announced price of 2499 yuan or about $366 USD or a hundred dollars more than the market leader

The 4.3-inch PMP is now available for 699 yuan ($102), which is a really cheap price for anything tied to the McLaren Mercedes brand, not to mention an 8GB player. The 4.3-inch screen supports 480 × 272 pixels. You can plays various video codecs including RMVB, AVI, MPEG and FLV, as well as FLAC and APE lossless. The 2200mAh could play 4 hours of video and 10 hours of video at one full charge

High-flying Chinese-manufacturer Aigo is willing to bet on a high-powered mobile phone that also functions as a MID. This means, it will probably have netbook functionalities with iPhonesque form factor. The photo above gives you an idea what an Aigo MID Phone. The slideout QWERTY keyboard it features is interesting in that it uses mouse buttons on both sides. It should have a 3.5-inch to 4-inch screen. A 5-inch-screen phone seems too big, so expect it to be as big as the Sophia Nani, a vaporware you should know about. An Intel Atom is likely, though let’s not discount Nvidia Tegra. I’m not sure how XP would work out on a phone but that’s what the source in China suggests. For sure, this won’t be an iPhone clone.

We’ve had some pretty odd-looking MP3 players and PMPs here at PMP Today but this new Aigo MP3 player takes the cake. The device is obviously a puzzle piece and may be a little too late for Valentine’s despite the English letter at the bottom left of the photo. The leak doesn’t provide specifications. I’ll go on the limb here and say that this puzzle piece could lock with other puzzle pieces and possible form a screen size big enough to play videos. Sounds convincing? Well, whatever it turns out to be it’s bound to be affordable.

Aigo is finally making good use of their F1 racing McLaren Mercedes sponsorship. On October 18 they launched the Aigo Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP5 player or the MP5-MK3510, which is a 4.3-inch 480 × 272 PMP with support of up to 720P (1280 x 720) HD resolution. It plays RM, RMVB, AVI, FLV, DAT, MPG, MPEG and MP3, WMA, FLAC, APE with BBE and SRS. It has an e-Book reader, photo viewer and FM. It plays 4 hours of video and 10 hours of audio. No pricing yet but if it’s an in-car PMP for McLaren Mercedes and considering the specs it won’t be China cheap.
