Teclast C300 is More Chocolate with a Swiss Chip

2 05 2008

Teclast may never get over their Chocolate obsession. To tell the truth, the C300 doesn’t look that much different from the earlier Teclast M30. In fact the C300 is described by Teclast as “a classic 2.8-inch screen 4:3 ratio of the Real players.” After two years of cloning the LG Chocolate phone by hundreds of Chinese PMP manufacturers, this description seems apt for the C300. The new player (C300) is inside the same casing as the old (M30) with a 2.8-inch QVGA screen (no idea if it is AMOLED like the M30). Price tag should be around 399 yuan ($57) for the 2GB. t plays AVI, RMVB, RM, MP3, WMA, APE, FLAC, ACC. Music playback enhanced by Microsoft’s PlayFX. Other specs: 3.5mm jack, USB 2.0, measuring 88 × 55 × 7.9mm. There’s a thorough evaluation at zol, but, as usual, you may have to wait awhile before an online retail store sells this.

TEKXON MX550 MP4 has a 5MP CMOS Camera

30 04 2008

TEKXON DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES LTD[HK] is actually saying the MX550 PMP is a 12 megapixel digicam with PMP functionality added but the fine print says it only has a 5 megapixel CMOS sensor onboard. It’s stll very impressive, though, what with the TV in/out, video recording, MP3 and MP4 playback and a ear phone thrown in. We don’t know how much video you can store in the 512MB onboard memory but the SD/ MMC expansion will help. You can buy it wholesale at the link below.

Specs of the MX550 after the break.

Compare the MX550 with other high-megapixel camera PMPs we have featured:

1. Mustek DV300t

2. Newman L1200

3. Lensas F2218 (phone)

Tsinghua Tongfang PMC-M880 Goes Finnish

30 04 2008

The Chinese company Tsinghua Tongfang has announced a new PMP that supports TV out at 720 × 576-pixel resolution. This is very good quality TV out resolution for a PMP. The PMC-M880, on its own, has a 3 inches of viewing space with 400 x 240 pixels. You might find that the M880, like the KNC M-700, resembles the Nokia XpressMusic 5310 in at least one way. I’m sure Nokia will be just tickled about this new development.

I sort of remember Tsinghua Tongfang releasing the PMC-M880 with a totally different (more Chocolatey) guise. Take a look at the PMC-M880 before it got morphed into a 5310 clone.

Choose Your Cect HiPhone Apple Clone

29 04 2008

Cect has released so many iPhone clones we are at a loss trying to make sense about product histories. It’s obvious, Cect doesn’t make cellphones like Apple, which will be releasing iPhone 2.0 after the original has had a full year in the market. On the Chinese side, there is the Cect 599, the P168+, d800i HiPhone the Cect 132, the T32 and of course the C-002 HiPhone - all released in no logical order. Hm, one of these babies may not even befrom Cect at all.

The challenge (after the break) couldn’t be simpler. Which Cect HiPhone handset do you like best? But enjoy the videos, too! Read the rest »

Newman’s N-Shaped Button on the MOMO-X2

28 04 2008

Imagine an apple-shaped iPod clickwheel or a Z-shaped pad for Zorro… er, Zune. Newman, I believe, has the right idea, shaping the control buttons of the MOMO-X2 into a big bold capital letter N. This way, every MOMO-X2 user will not only enjoy MP3, WMA music files with Microsoft PlayFX and music from FM radio, read e-Books in TXT format but also advertise the Newman brand.

Check out the most recent MOMO PMPs fro Newman from our previous post, or click the read more button for the specs of MOMO-X2.

Nokia 5310 Knockoff KNC M-700 is a Confirmed Knockoff

26 04 2008

When we brought our readers news about a Nokia 5310 XpressMusic knock-off from KNC, we were censured for jumping the “cloning” gun on the Chinese manufacturer. Though the side buttons on the M-700 suspiciously look like a copy from the 5310, it doesn’t mean that KNC was deliberately ripping Nokia. But look at the comparison photo above and decide for yourself. Better yet, look at the brief review video on the source site (link below). We did get one thing wrong: the M-700 has a 3.0-inch (400 × 240-pixel) screen and not a 2.6-inch screen.

Click the link below for the video review and  the reasons why the M-700 will be very popular when it comes out in China, given the right price of course.

YOTO T I-Pen is a Video Recording Pen W/ 30 MP Camera (?)

23 04 2008

Hey, I’d be happy if the Yoto T I-PEN R530 only has a 3.0 megapixel camera instead of a 30 megapixel camera built-in. The pen is also an audio/ video recorder directly recording CIF 352 × 288 videos and playable at 15 fps AVI. For still photos, the camera can take up to 640 X 480 resolution. The T I-PEN gives you a choice of 1GB to 4GB built-in storage. We hope technology this advanced is affordable when the price is announced.

Btw, YOTO made this pretty and slim PMP, so you might want to give the company a chance.

Ainol S100 PMP w/ Touch Keys

22 04 2008

Okay, so this Ainol PMP has LG Chocolate-like touch-sensitive keypad and a nice 3-inch (400 x 240) screen and simply amazing file support: RM, RMVB, AVI, DAT, ASP, MP4, WMV, 3GP, MPG, FLV… and this is just the video files and MP3, WMA, APE, FLAC audio in addition. It comes in red, blue, purple, black and silver versions and 8GB of storage on each one for a whopping 599 yuan or $86 USD. So it’s another cheap PMP from China and we’ve featured plenty of them. It’s not as if it’s going to kill the Apple iPod.

MUMU ishine PMP also Introduced

21 04 2008

After MUMU’s ican comes MUMU ishine an audio/ video player that has nothing to do with Apple or LG. We know next to nothing about this new player except that it’s thin (7mm) and it’s got some of Chocolate’s charm on it and the screen is bigger than on the MUMU ican.

MUMU ican MP3 Player is Thin

21 04 2008

Not much info yet from MUMU Music Wyatt, about their new and fancy-buttoned ican MP3 player, except that it has a 1.5-inch TFT screen and support for Mp3 and APE, FLAC lossless. It’s supposed to play videos but we cannot say which files it supports. It does have PlayFX audio enhancement. It’s also very thin, if you take the product photos as Gospel truth, with a 2GB onboard memory. The tag line says: “I can get more fun at mumumusic.” Hm, not bad for a translation job.
