RAmos T8 UI Still Life Photos

8 07 2008

ramos-t8-interface.jpg

Not sure whether these newly released set of “still life” pics are rendered or live photos. They sure look too pretty to be shot from a digital camera without computer enhancements. In case you have missed it on the video, the T8 iMovie home screen  is a highly successful copy of the iPhone GUI. It also adds a dock. Overall, controlling your media is a very simple task on the iMovie’s UI, made especially pleasing with the 4.3-inch 480 × 272 touch screen. Come to think of it, add a calling feature and this PMP could stand for the spot Meizu has left open far too long.

The RAmos T8 is almost ready for shipping. The manufacturer promises input via index finger in addition to the stylus. Hopefully, users will not have to grow a callus, especially to navigate the UI.

OPPO Brewing Something Interesting

8 07 2008

oppo-s7.jpg

Oppo will soon release the Smart S7 Mp4 player, which boasts the usual direct RM/ RMVB support as well as support for AVI, Xvid, DivX, FLV, MP3, WMA, WAV, the OGG and APE, FLAC Lossless audio. It has a 3-inch screen, mic recording and FM tuner. It’s only 76 grams heavy and 699 yuan ($102) for a 4GB PMP will not punch a hole in your pocket.

Aigo A5 Patriot Fatty MP3 Player

7 07 2008

 aigo-patriot-a5.jpg

While we were a little dubious about the Patriot A6’s iPod Nano second-gen form factor as a clip-on player, we are in total agreement to the a5’s aesthetic sensibility. No more hook on the backside, just a nice white coat of paint and the Aigo branding. No disappearing screen though like the a6 but the touch-sensitive volume control, presumably, still light up when in use. Casing is supposed to be an aluminum-magnesium alloy, which I suppose lends the A5 a plasticky look.

Specs:

WMA, MP3
FM
16 hours audio playback
USB 2.0
2GB

Newsmy MOMO M-Touch Ruggedized PMP

7 07 2008

 newsmy-momo-m-touch.jpg

Not sure if Newman intended the M-Touch for rugged environments but that’s what the impression it gives me. It runs on Windows CE 6.0, an OS that we haven’t seen in a while. Officially it has a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, 1.3 megapixel camera, plays AVI/ASF/MPG/3GP/MP4/FLV and MP3/WMA/ACC/WAV/OGG. With games, TXT and photo support. Photo indicates UI is WindTouch.  Could this be the same interface found in RAmos touch PMPs?

Photo of the side and back, which looks better than the front after the break.

Specs:

Windows CE 6.0
2.8-inch QVGA screen
1.3 MP camera
MP3/WMA/ACC/WAV/OGG
AVI/MP4/FLV/ASF/MPG/MPEG/WMV
T-Flash
2GB/4GB 399 yuan ($58)/ 499 yuan ($73)

Nokia Aeon Concept Available in China as Vogue LifeStyle

6 07 2008

 nokia-aeon-china-vogue-lifestyle.jpg

In case you’re wondering what happened to Nokia’s concept all-touch phone, it’s been recently spotted in China. It’s not quite the Aeon we’re familiar with and instead of having a full touchscreen up front with a sash separating the display and the virtual keys, the Chinese version a 2.2-inch non-touch TFT screen and a backlit numeric keypad that is almost visible when it’s not being operated, though that is due mainly to the shiny coating. This phone has a nifty WWW-belt-like 1.3 MP camera on back, Bluetooth and 3D speakers.

See the live pictures below. Update: we’ve also found a video on YouTube. Check it out.

Venus JXD311 is iPhone Reworked

6 07 2008

jxd311.jpg

Not to nitpick, it’s really a reworking of the iPod Touch, not the iPhone, but moving on. The 311 does text (otherwise known as e-Book support), mic voice recording, AV-in and out and a digital camera with an unknown megapixel count. remember that Venus introduced a series of JXD MP4 players a while ago, many with cameras. The 311 should be distinguished from all the other by its sleek form factor and ultra-sophisticated touch UI. Oh yes, it’s a touch screen. No word on price and availability.

What we know of the JXD 311:

- Touchscreen (probably 2.8 inches)
- Plays AVI, 3GP, MP4, ASF videos
- Plays MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, AMR music
- TXT, mic recording, AV-out, AV-in, TF card
- camera, clock, calendar

5 07 2008

teclast-m26-front.jpg

The M26 from Taipower is as anticipated as any Chinese PMP could be. Nice form factor, plays MP3, Wma, FLAC and APE file and Avi, FLV and RMVB and with TV out. Pretty good UI as well.

Hope this comes out soon at one of the online retailers that we know about at a very Chinesy price. Check out the photo of the UI after the break.

E9 2-in-1 China Mobile Folder Phone is a Rubbery Nokia Communicator Alternative

5 07 2008

e9-china-mobile.jpg

Among our advertisers, Totobay is the most tireless supplier of interesting phones from China. One of their lates announcements is bound to amaze and amuse at the same time. The E9 “2-in-1 Folder Phone” (my own nickname for it) would definitely appeal to business users looking for a cheaper E90 Communicator originally made by Nokia. China Mobile’s E9 boasts an external 2.2-inch screen and an internal 2.8-inch screen. Both screens are touch-sensitive. The QWERTY keyboard is inside, but when you open up the phone it’s not the “rubberized” keyboard you notice notice but the internal screen which looks just like the iPhone.

This is what the GUI looks like:

 e9-homepage.jpg

The E9 is a dual-band GSM phone with GPRS and WAP. It’s a “fluent” MP3 and MP4 players, has built-in FM, an e-Book, stopwatch, supports SMS with SMS firewall for sensitive corporate text messaging. It goes for $175, but discounts may be available if you buy more than 1. Specifications and additional photo after the break.

Newman MOMO Beetle MP3 Player Charges in 3 Minutes

3 07 2008

newman-momo-beatle-mp3.jpg
Newman may have intended to design the cutest clip-on MP3 player. What they have for us instead - and they are not ashamed to admit - is a “UFO-shaped” design. The MOMO-Beetle is no ordinary odd-looking Chinese DAP, though. It plays music for 70 hours or more and has a stand-by time of 3 days, though we’re not sure why Newsmy has to mention their new MOMO-Beatle MP3 player drains out a full charge in 48 hours without playing a single track.

Specs:

Audio: WAV, MP3
FM radio
Modes: Heavy, Pop, Jazz, Custom
Sony power supply system suppose to fully charge in 3 minutes!
USB 2.0
58mm × 41mm × 11mm
