COWON D2 16GB Available in the U.S.

8 05 2008

The 16GB COWON D2 is available at JetMall.net for $239.99. Not a bad price, though when our friends at GenerationMP3 first spotted it a few hours ago it was only around $225. The features listed are just what we expected from the D2 without any significant changes except the storage capacity. The 16GB version was announced a few months back and, honestly, it is taking COWON awhile.

Main features as listed by JetMall:

- Video & Audio Player / FM Tuner / Voice Recorder / Text & Photo Viewer
- 2.5 inch 16 million color 24bit TFT-LCD - QVGA (320×240) Touchscreen
- SD / SDHC Memory Expansion
- Up to 52 hours (Music) of continuous playback (Movie 10 hours)*
- PlaysForSure Support

COWON N3 With Wood Frame

27 04 2008

The N3 is one of the best PNDs in the market today and for people who prefer to class it out, the Korean company has come up with this idea. The wood is Burl Walnut, a very popular type of wood I’ve heard. It has similar specs with the non-wood N3. Price hasn’t been announced but it should come with a significant premium.

15 04 2008

It seems that after Apple announced a 32GB iPod Touch everyone is racing to release a 16GB version of their own PMPs. After announcing it months before, COWON is the latest to add a 16GB model to one of its most popular products, the D2. The 16GB D2 has not officially arrived and it does not have an official price yet, but a German site already has the announcement posted and the details that the German public want such as price and availability are to be filled accordingly when the site gets them:

Cowon slashes prices everywhere!

27 01 2008

iaudio7.gif

It’s a little too early (or maybe too late) for those Christmas price cuts, but I’m not complaining that COWON lowered the prices on their PMPs, making their awesomiffic gadgets more affordable now. The Q5W is still kind of expensive at $509 but at least you save $40 from the price cut. Oh, and you get the GPS cradle (worth $199) for free upon purchase. The iAudio 7 16GB model now only costs $209 - that’s a $90 off the original price! The 60GB A3 is around $40 cheaper as well. So if you’ve always wanted to get yourself a COWON, you better take advantage of the price drop before they change their minds about it or something.

Fake COWON D3 Spotted

19 01 2008

cowon-d3-fake.jpg

We’ve been hearing some quiet rumors about the successor to COWON D2. The D2 was a squarish touch screen PMP with topnotch multimedia-playing capability. COWON even added a TV antenna later on. The supposed successor also has a DMB TV tuner, memory of up to 16GB and 11 hours of video playing, which is very impressive. Can you believe it plays 50 hours of audio. The screen is a 2.6-inch 400 x 240-pixel LCD, which puts it well ahead of the iPod Nano. An improvement in the COWON D-series? Yes. But real? Hm.

COWON Q5 Review Video

14 01 2008

The COWON Q5 is one of the best PMPs out in the market. It is a multi-connected platform for users who only want the best in portable movie viewing. What COWON gave them is a Windows CE device powered by a 600Mhz processor and a 5-inch 800 x 400-pixel screen with touch control and HSDPA, EDGE, GPRS, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity as well as a GPS (with adapter), TV out, and FM tuner. It plays Xvid, DivX, MPEG, WMV (click the jump for the specs). The Q5 s a pricey device with lots of good things about it and a few minor flaw. For a full review click on the GMP3 link.

Powered by the same Alchemy AU 1250 600MHz and running Windows CE 5.0, the N3, however, does sport a built-in DMB TV tuner and GPS ad a 800 x 480 pixel resolution for great portable media viewing. The COWON N3 features are as follows:

COWON A3 PMP Unboxing

13 12 2007

cowon-a3-unboxing.jpg

The COWON A3 has been out a month and we have yet to see a comprehensive review about the product. We’ve already seen this video preview from our friends at GenerationMP3 and another blog, Gadgetaholic, has just got their hands on a review unit and will be coming out with their review soon. For know, what seems apparent is that COWON thought the old A2 design would do for the next generation and didn’t change it much in the A3. All the improvements are inside.

Flash Skins on COWON D2

9 12 2007

cowon_d2_flash.jpg

Nothing much, just a slight firmware upgrade for the COWON D2, but it’s a nifty one. Yes, Flash skins on the D2 GUI. Now that the D2 is equipped with a TV antenna, a Flash skin is just more icing on the cake. The forum iAudiophile has a thread dedicated totally to D2 Flash skins so check it out.

8GB Asus Eee PC Now Available

8 12 2007

asus_eee_pc-8gb.jpg

NewEgg is now seeling an 8GB version of the Asus Eee PC. Just add $100 on top of the 4GB version and you’ll get 4GB more on storage. Think this is way too much? I think so too. The RAM has beenupgraded to 1GB DDR2 from the 512MB of the original, which should give the little laptop more oomph. Besides that, the specs haven’t changed. Will there ever be a 10-inch Eee PC? That, my friends, is up to you. Complain enough and I believe AsusTek will comply.
