The Apple iPhone 3G will give users the pleasure of listening to radio. Though Apple is famous for omitting an FM tuner in its iPod line, it proved open to the idea of an online radio. The AOL Radio app will be released next month after being showcased at the WWDC. It will include 200 AOL stations and 150+ CBS stations. It’s no doubt a very good app, having taking home the “Best Entertainment Application” award at the WWDC. It’s totally freeware but brace yourself for advertisements just like in old-fashined FM radios. WiFi and 3G is all you need after you download the app and the new iPhone has got them both. The built-in GPS in the iPhone also figure in as the AOL Radio app uses GPS to tell users the closest radio station.

The popular VX989 from Onda has been hacked to support FC games. This is great news. The VX989 is just about the most popular Onda player out there. It has even been adopted by Pasen into LAZYBUM - that’s how popular it is. It looks like a simple DIY upgrade (w/ overclocking) but because the instructions are written in Chinese, non-Chinese speakers might want to hold on to their non-gaming VX989 just a little while longer until someone in the English-speaking world can post an instruction in original English.

The iPhone SDK will finally bring YouTube to the safari browser on your iPhone. For the unitiated, this is not the same as the YouTube Player in your iPhone, which is a wholly separate app. This isn’t even real Flash support as YouTube is played via a plugin that allows you to play embedded YouTube videos. Pointing your browser to YouTube.com, however, is just more disappointment.

For PSP-2000, Sony has released Firmware 3.93 that enables your PSP to support Skype VoIP. Skype on PSP should’ve been available earlier if not for a faulty mic, but now it’s here. For Skype on PSP, you will need a memory stick, a headset and of course wireless Internet.

The Jailbreak of the unreleased iPhone 2.0 software is here, and iPhone Dev Team takes full credit. Now, why jailbreak an iPhone that will already open its doors to third-party software via App Store and soon even Java is a mystery except for the fact that many iPhone users might want their apps for free. Yes, it’s difficult to please these iPhone (and iPod Touch) users.

Even better news for iPhone cheapskates, the 1.2.0 (technical-word for iPhone 2.0) jailbreak is a true jailbreak in the old-fashioned sense, unlocking the 1.20 iPhone for any network. Says the iPhone Dev Team: “the hacked 1.2 firmware works with anything. AT&T and others, it’s pwned. And Apple will not really be able to patch it this time… somehow :-)” Well, wow! This is the most stable iPhone jailbreak ever!

Apple, it can be officially declared, has given up the fight against iPhone unlockers. We told you that was the impression we get after Apple released the 1.1.4 firmware update. The new firmware just didn’t offer resistance to unlock softwares and it didn’t brick jailbroken iPhones and iPod Touches. Now here we are with three easy methods to jailbreak newly updated iPhones:

iNdependence v1.4 beta…

is a Cocoa-based application for Mac OS X which provides an easy-to-use interface for jailbreak, activation, SSH installation, and ringtone/wallpaper/application installation on your iPhone. It’s open source under the GNU v2 license.

The source code for interacting with the iPhone has been broken out into a library (libPhoneInteraction) so that it can be easily reused by other applications.

It’s finally here, but this one is a mystery. Does the 1.1.4 firmware update pave the way for SDK? No one knows what it fixes exactly just yet. You can get it through iTunes if it’s iTunes 7.6.1.9. Engadget brings good news in the form of a healthy jailbroken 1.1.3 getting the aforementioned update. It’s a sizable software update at 162.1MB. ZiPhone works on this update, according to several who have tried it.
