The Endless Racing Game is one of the first multiplayer games, where the game action moves from one iPhone to another. Endlessly (or as long as you wish to play).

Features of the Endless Racing Game in the Multiplayer mode:
- Connect two iPhones 3G / 3GS via Bluetooth.
- Drive the car using the Gas and Stop buttons.
- Change driving direction by moving your iPhone (the game uses the iPhone accelerometer).
- Be aware of crossing ducks.
- Build an endless racing track by using just two iPhones. The car will jump from one iPhone to another, if you will reach the finish within 60 seconds.

They go on to add, for solo iPhone gamers:

You can also play the game in the Single-player mode (on one iPhone). But the game will end after you reach the finish in 60 seconds.

Mobile Applications can be addicting, so says the numbers. But the numbers don’t mean any single application or type of applications, they mean all applications. The numbers came from Flurry, a mobile analytics company. I understand the addiction. It’s a lot of fun downloading and trying out various applications, especially when many of them are free. Flurry has tracked 40 million mobile users and about half a million of these users have used applications 100 times in a month each–that’s 3 times every day. These are app addicts! The trend is accelerating, which means the industry probably has to thank the iPhone and Steve Jobs for the rising popularity of mobile applications.

New GrooveMaker® Electro and D’n’B released
for the iPhone/iPod Touch
Completes the range of 8 leading loop-remixing applications

October 2009, Modena, Italy – IK Multimedia is proud to announce the release of two new applications for the iPhone/iPod touch: GrooveMaker Electro and Drum ’n’ Bass (D’n’B). These complete the range of available GrooveMaker applications with two new style-based apps that allow anyone to create and share non-stop Electro and D’n’B tracks for DJing, remixing, multimedia and movie soundtrack compositions on the go, in real-time, just like a professional DJ or music producer.

With over 350,000 downloads since its August release, GrooveMaker has quickly become the top loop remixing application for the iPhone and iPod touch, allowing any user to create professional, full-length songs in minutes, with its unique combination of advanced remixing software and high-quality included loops’ sound content.

GrooveMaker allows for instantaneous control over 8 stereo loop tracks, making it possible to remix the included massive loop library of drums, bass, bass drums, lines, pads, percussion and effects. Its unique and patented randomization feature allows musicians to generate a vast number of remixes on the fly, with one touch, to produce millions of possible groove combinations.

Loops made in GrooveMaker can be manipulated in real-time (pan, volume, mute, solo, group and tempo) and grooves can be arranged easily by dragging and dropping to create full-length tracks. These tracks can then be saved, previewed and recalled on the iPhone/iPod touch devices or exported as hi-quality .WAV files to any computer using a Wi-Fi network.

GrooveMaker Electro gives you mechanical and aggressive uptempo beats, weird and chemically altered sounds. A huge collection of phreaked out bass lines and alien noises.
Wolfram Alpha has been accessible on the iPhone via mobile Safari since last June, but now, the company has released a Wolfram Alpha iPhone app for retail at the App Store. Surprisingly, they’ve chosen to go against the trend of selling iPhone apps at dirt cheap prices and are actually selling it for $49.99. It’s not exactly what I would call an effective marketing ploy, but here’s they had to say about their new offering in an email sent to Gizmodo:

How many people will buy it? We’re not sure, but looking at the other apps that are $50+, we think that we’re of at least comparable in utility and functionality, if not more. And, part of what the company is also doing is making a statement about the non-trivial nature of WolframAlpha’s capabilities, and how much the system has matured since launch.

Personally, I’m still not buying it regardless of how matured it now is especially since I can just use Safari to head on over to their website and won’t have to pay a single penny in the whole process, but that’s just me, how about you guys? Are you willing to spend nearly $50 at the App Store for the Wolfram Alpha iPhone app?

Tired of the usual iPhone games at the App Store? Want something different that’s a little more well-suited for matured individuals? Then you should definitely check out the latest from the SuicideGirls – the Seduce a SuicideGirl iPhone app. It’s basically a choose-your-own-adventure type of a game wherein, if you make all the right decisions, will land you a make out session with Zoli, the main SuicideGirl in the story. As if the sexy and ever-so-naughty SuicideGirls weren’t enough to entice people to get this app, they’ve even signed up Anthony Zuiker of CSI to write for them and executive producer of Flight of the Conchords and Bored to Death Troy Miller to direct the whole show. So, if some mature content and a little fun is what you’re truly after, you certainly can’t go wrong with the Seduce a SuicideGirl iPhone app. It’s now available at the App Store for the reasonable price of just $0.99.

Admittedly, the iPhone wouldn’t be as successful today if it weren’t for the App Store and vice versa. With a wide variety of apps to choose from that are priced well within the reach of most, if not all, individuals, it’s hard not to see why its such a huge hit, but is the App Store slowly driving away developers? More competition has definitely helped drive down prices, but as developers still need to earn a buck or two from what they make, has the recent flooding of the App Store made it an unhealthy environment for which developers can make a living? Gizmodo seems to think so, and they pose a really sound argument to back this theory up.

Develops need to sell their apps and, in order to do so, they need to get noticed. One way is by reaching the top 10, and a great way to achieve this is to offer it up with an ultra-low price. However, as new iPhone apps come along with ridiculously lower prices, they’ll get bumped off the list forcing them to lower their prices even further. This maybe good for consumers but it certainly doesn’t favor developers. They’ll have to either contend with selling their apps at unreasonably cheap prices or pack their bags and leave. On the good side though (or not), the App Store effect, as Giz coins it, will have very little effect on the immediate future, and its impact will be felt down the road.

I don’t exactly agree with the entire argument proposed here, but I do see the App Store getting saturated at some point in time with only a small percentage of developers reaping the benefits from it. How about you guys? What’s your take on this whole App Store effect theory?

Apple isn’t exactly fond of allowing 3G video streaming on the iPhone. The iPhone SlingPlayer app doesn’t come with it and neither does the recently released EyeTV app. Fortunately, there seems to be a quick fix for this as far as Elgato’s EyeTV iPhone app is concerned. When you try to run Live TV on a 3G connection, a warning will pop up stating that this feature will only work on a WiFi connection. If you tap OK, it will behave as such – a WiFi restricted app. However, tap on the text of the message instead, and lo and behold, you get Live TV streaming over 3G. We’re not sure how Apple will react to this once this news reaches their front desk, but wouldn’t it be simpler if they just allowed this features in all iPhone apps?
