The 4.3-inch touchscreen and WiFi-enabled iRiver P35 PMP finally has a 32GB version available. It features the SPINN control and the delightful Magazine UI. For about $389 in Korea, looks likely to be distributed in the U.S. and elsewhere in the world. With the additional microSD supporting up to 16GB cards, it’s a pretty good option these days.

The new user interface dubbed “Magazine” by iRiver will have another hardware showcasing it. The iRiver NV Classic seems unperturbed by the new iPhone 3G S, which features a built-in compass and turn-by-turn navigation. Theoretically, an all-in-one computer like the iPhone can drive a device like the iRiver Classic out of business, but perhaps drivers will prefer the 7-inch (800 x 480) screen and a DMB TV tuner built-in (no idea if iRiver will support DVB-T in the U.S. and European territories).

The iRiver NV Classic is a great PMP supporting MPEG1/4, WMV9 and Xvid and MP3, WAV, OGG and WMA.  The $264 price tag includes a 4GB SD card and a mapping card.

O.K., we understand portable TVs are necessarily bulky cousins of PMPs but we were really hoping the iRiver B30 will be an exception. Still, you have to appreciate the sleek user interface. Dapreview thinks it’s comparable to the P.ple P7 Magazine UI.

Besides the Zune HD, the iRiver P35 will come this fall to U.S. customers. Not nearly as interesting as Zune HD, but the touchscreen P35 will have WiFi and a web browser, and the 4.3-inch screen supports touch control that will go with the SPINN control. The 16GB may not be the biggest one could get but the $286 approximate price doesn’t sound too unreasonable for a PMP with WiFi.

The promo video for the iRiver B30 kinda reminds me of the iPod ads a couple of years back. The iRiver version could be cooler, but then the iPod could’ve digital TV. The video also does quite a bit of demonstration for UI control (I didn’t know it has shake control). It’s a really simple portable player with TV, that’s what iRiver is saying here. Yeah, I believe we got that.

So the leaked photo was genuine. The iRiver B30 has now officially surfaced. The B30 succeeds the B20, a PMP with mobile TV so expect that the antenna on this one is a permanent fixture. It looks like a sleek device but one would expect a bigger screen for a mobile TV. Instead, we only get 2.8 inches and only a QVGA LCD.

We’ve been waiting for a formal tech review* of the iRiver P7 PMP. The touted “Magazine touch user interface” is fairly intriguing. What else can iRiver contribute to user-friendly interface that Apple hasn’t already (iriver P.ple P7 specs here)? It plays RM/RMVB, AVI, WMV, MP4,  DAT/MPG, 3GP/K3G and FLV as well as MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, FLAC audio files. I’m not sure how it handles text and e-Books but wouldn’t it be nice if you can display text side by side videos and album art? The iRiver P7 is available in 8GB ($160) and 16GB with microSD memory expansion.

Some iRiver watchers think they have spotted the E200 and B30. These models are just speculation for now but photographic evidence has us wondering if a refresh of a relatively old model and a relatively new model is coming soon. The iRiver B30 will succeed the B20, which was a PMP and portable TV. No doubt, the B30 will be primarily used as a DMB tuner and will most likely have useful video and music codecs support, FM and who knows a touchscreen and WiFi would really complement the bigger screen. The E200 will follow E100 and E150 budget PMPs. If the one on the lower left is really the E200, I’m curious how that triangular area at the bottom of the screen can be used to improve our viewing pleasure.

The new iRiver D7 (from the Dicple line of e-Dictionaries) is a smaller device of the same form factor as the D50n announced last CES. The D7 has a 3-inch 480 x 272 touchscreen, PMP and e-dic functionality as well as optional DMB. It looks like a great video and music player with 30fps video playback and SRS Wow. It is available in 4GB for 268,000 won ($209) and a T-DMB version for 308,000 or about $240 Won (there’s also an 8GB version but we don’t know if that only comes with T-DMB).

We all know reigncom is the parent company of iRiver, but what if the parent finally realizes that the off-spring does a lot better in the name-recognition department? Well, they may just do away with their old name and adapt the spin-off as their main standard. At least, this is what one Korea blogger suspects when he got hold of an announcement for a shareholders meeting. Notice (below) the phrase “iRiver brand of companies.”
