Has Meizu finally stopped tweaking on the M8 phone, a.k.a the Chinese iPhone? Cnmo.com of China believes so, and they have published several scintillating photos of an all-black Meizu M8 phone. Yes, even the GUI is black. Now, I don’t know about how die-hard Apple fans would react to the photo above and the additional photos below, but you must be damned blind if you didn’t think the Chinese iPhone is just rad. And oh, it’s going to be released in China in August.
Here’s a sample of the write-up from cnmo.com:
The release of a new second-generation mobile phone M8 UI interface, compared with the previous generation to some more delicate, but still has not shaken off the shadow of Apple iPhone. First let Meizu M8 is the second-generation mobile phone player interface songs. Through the picture, we can see that the new interface will not only broadcast the song lyrics show an increase of the interface, the album also add detailed information. Not only can display album artist information, but also to the larger models show the album cover. Also selected songs are even more beautiful light patterns. The M8 is undergoing further changes once again. We understand from the photo above that the M8 user interface will make use of dialog boxes, those shaded areas you see on the screen. Here’s how Meizu CEO Jack Wong’s words when it is translated into English:
We re-do the m8 the UI, some inside the icon function blocks also need to continue to further amendments, the following examples may not be the final version of the icon.
1, lock Machine Interface
The time display in the first half Drive location at the lack of information when prompted column of information automatically disappear.
Note: 1 / 2 “refused to read …” button words may not only served as a reminder m8 Below three mechanical bond at the function.
Users can set up set up inside tips received SMS messages omitted content.
The background is customizable and the virtual keyboard is arranged with KLIOP on top, not QWERTY. Not that bad pre-hands-on. But who knows how user-friendly it really is.

The M8 phone actually made it to CeBIT and Engadget’s got the first hands-on with the iPhone device. It’s stll in prototype stage, which is very disappointing since it’s taken Meizu this long to present the actual hardware. From the looks of it, the software will take months before it can be finalized. It’s looks more like the iPod Touch clone than an iPhone clone, but it’s definitely on the chunky side of things. The screen is bright and crisp. The three buttons looks OK, but it won’t do much to immunize Meizu against an Apple lawsuit. We’ll see.
Video demo after the break.

The M8 iPhone Killer is back in the news once more, and once more it’s disappointing news. Even as CEO Jack Wong promised us an unveiling on CeBIT, the M8 release has been rescheduled to Q2 or Q3. The supposed good news about this is that Meizu has planned several more changes on the miniOne. Hardware? Software?
News source in unconfirmed but it won’t surprise us if indeed M8 will miss another major electronics show.

We just brought you news about the M8 (miniOne) being available through wholesale suppliers. Mere hours later, other leads on the M8’s availability have been popping up. One such lead goes straight to an online retail site, Elite-Electronix, is selling on a pre-order basis a 4GB M8 phone unlocked for $299.95. The specs given on site generally matched those given by the suppliers except for the inclusion of a VGA camera in front for video conferencing and additional 3G and even 3.5G connectivity in a future date. Elite Electronix must be in direct contact with Meizu execs as we haven’t heard fom CEO Jack Wong himself about 3G or 3.5G. A 2/ 4-year protection plan from Elite Electronix can be purchased separately for the M8. The site also says the Meizu will ship March 2008. Read the rest »

Meizu is selling the M8 or miniOne phone thru several supply companies. Yes, it’s true. The iPhone’s most famous imitator, which we failed to see at CES, can be bought from Fujian Huaxia Trade Co., Ltd, Samsin Trade Co., Ltd., Fuzhou ZhongTianLi Trade Co., Ltd., and Longxiang Shoes Co., Ltd., among others ( though we counted just four of these suppliers.
As far as we can tell, the specs provided by these suppliers are similar, which means Meizu has finalized the specifications (full specs after the break) and, presumably, the external design of the M8. Contrary to one recent rumor, it does look like iPhone. Most of these suppliers display an M8 photo that will be familiar to all the followers of this phone that always seemed to fail to achieve launch date. All, that is, except Samsin, which is displaying an iPhone-white Meizu M8 (photo used above). Read the rest »

It’s official! Jack Wong just announced the non-appearance of the meizu miniOne M8, also called the Chinese iPhone. The Meizu M8 is one of the often-rumored gadgets on this site, and finally CEO Jack Wong itself presented us ith the end of the tunnel. What our eye sight is trying to peer through is CeBIT at Hanover, Germany, which will be held from March 4 to 9.

Here’s yet another gadget from Korea that looks like it can do everything except clean the kitchen sink. The Windows CE-based Maxian E900T PMP has a snazzy 4.3″ touch screen with an 800 x 480 resolution and it can pretty much play any audio format (including MP3, WMA, AAC, and OGG) and supports WMV, MPEG-2/4, DiVX/XviD, and H.264 videos. It can even support real-time lyrics display for tracks tagged with SYLT encoding!
But nope, that’s not all the E900T can do. You can connect this thing to your TV or home theater system and enjoy its 720p high-def video and DTS surround sound, powered by Burr-Brown processing circuitry. If you’re the type who’s always on the go and not really one to sit at home and be a couch potato, you can bring the E900T with you in the car. It’s got an optional windshield antenna/dock, GPS navigation, a DMB TV receiver that accepts Korea’s digital TV signals so you and your passengers don’t miss your favorite programs.
The Maxian E900T comes with 30GB memory (white) or 60GB memory (black and blue), and has a built in SD/MMD card reader. Like all good things, this one comes with a catch. And the catch is–it looks like it’s available in Korea only.

Good news for Meizu fans. Meizu CEO Jack Wong has revealed that the Meizu M8, also called miniOne will have a patented design (currently in process with the relevant agency), which means the M8 WILL NOT be an iPhone or iPod Touch Clone. The final hardware will include three tactile buttons, which, we hope, will be Meizu’s own iconic template. The picture above includes the official release from Jack Wong, which shows us that the Meizu, at least, will be as rectangular as the iPhone.

Unfortunately, we are not one of the lucky beta testers for the Meizu M8. Nonetheless we are happy that Meizu already has a few units of the mini One M8 ready for testing. As we announced before, the mini One M8 is going to be released in early 2008. The official announcement and, hopefully, a final version of the phone and its GUI, will be presented in January during CES. The Meizu M8 is real friends and it even tells you it was 19:08 when someone took its photo.
Update: Oops, Meizu CO Jack Wong explains that the above pic is just a mock up. The final product will use a totally different external material, which, we’re hoping, wouldn’t look as fugly.
