SciPhone brings us one of the first Android dual-SIM phones available at the moment. (For a real quick unboxing video in French, scroll to the end of this post.) The SciPhone N21 has been available for a month now but we have yet to come across a video of the Android-based SciPhone. Beareyes, has an unboxing going on in their site. Oddly, Engadget’s logo makes a cameo (anyone know for what strange reason a test unit meant for Engadget ended up at this Chinese site, leave a comment below) on the packaging of this popular iPhone clone. SciPhone is one of the better-selling iPhone clones, though recently they have been gearing toward a more non-iPhone look, so adopting the Android OS shouldn’t be taken as a simple economic decision–SciPhone wants to strike out on its own.

SciPhone N21 uses a 624MHz of the Marvell PXA310 processor. It has a 3-inch touchscreen LCD, 5 MP camera, accelerometer, WiFi, Bluetooth and , of course, the dual-SIM slot.

Update: the official unboxing above was originally published by Engadget Chinese. They have more photos at the link.
How about a CECT Phone and a C-002 phone. These are among the most popular iPhone clones available and PMP Today has received its fair share of requests and complaints about them. Most complaints are about setup to U.S. wireless providers. Also, some iPhone clone owners bemoan the difficulty of using features such as MMS.

Below are some useful Youtube videos that helps you setup a CECT phone to a U.S. network. This may not work in all popular iPhone clones but in my experience they often use the same software and hardware parts. The videos can be found on this site.

The famous SciPhone i68, perhaps the most popular SciPhone out there, is now 3G connected… or is it?

The famous SciPhone i68, perhaps the most popular SciPhone out there, is now 3G connected… or is it?

Though the SciPhone i68+ 3G is a non-smart iPhone clone like its predecessor (it runs Nucleus) it’s a cheap phone that supports Java, Bluetooth 2.1, a 3.2-inch touchscreen and the look and feel of a “real” iPhone 3G shell. But don’t buy one of these for a lot more than $100–one of the reasons it’s kicking Meizu M8 butt.

It’s only 3G by name only, it seems, though it supports dual-SIM. You get cheated on battery life as well, because it has 1200mAH instead of the purported 1800mAh. Other fake stuff include the scientific calculator function (not a scientific calculator at all) and most everything in the user interface. Best price for the SciPhone i68+ 3G is around $90.

First, the SciPhone N12 is the first SciPhone Nseries phone we’ve ever heard of and, second, it runs a genuine Android OS. Not only that, it’s got crazy specs like WiFi, GPS and CMMB TV support, powered by a 624MHz processor. Yes, it’s also 3G WCDMA. Wow. Price tag must be worth at least a Meizu M8, right? Well, no, because you can have this baby for 1600 yuan ($234). It should be out late this June. Apparently, M8cool is saying the SciPhone N12 has a virtual keyboard but a trackball is also provided for navigation. Well, aren’t you aching to see one in a demo video?

One of the most popular iPhone clones has big dreams about their Android-clone-running phone. SciPhone has just added WiFi to the G2 now calling it SciPhone Dream G2+. Wow, this is a big boost for SciPhone and its piece of the ever widening iPhone clone market (no stats here just speculation).

The Dream G2+ seems very well-featured for a $185 phone. Almost too good to be true:

triband GSM, GPRS,WAP, EDGE, WiFi

Android OS (we’re pretty stoked this could be real Google Android this time)

2.8-inch touchscreen QVGA screen

PDA functionality (MS Office support)

Bluetooth

video and music file support

games

[read more about it]
Right now sciphone and hiphone are our most consistently searched for keywords. With good reason, we think.

Interim CEO mulls divesting their phone from the wireless giant. There are also anonymous sources from inside Apple that lets on the possibility that a Verizon iPhone will be available in the future. CDMA/ EvDo iPhone may also be forthcoming. All rumors, of course, but think of the advantages for Apple, Inc. when it doesn’t have to deal with difficult partners like Rogers and AT&T.

As hard as the exclusivity of the lone iPhone model to maintain, 3 new iPhones could mean triple the hassle for both Apple and wireless partners the world over.

Of course it all depends on how Apple feels about iPhone’s current market. Does it think it’s big enough and is it content with the additional revenue streams via the App Store?

It’s been a while since we posted a decent iPhone clone. No idea whether GiPhone is related to HiPhone or SciPhone. I remember being told once these iPhone clones with iPhonesque names are all related to Cect phones. Anyway, what’s interesting about the GiPhone F5… well, the F5 has many interesting features: the white color, the “multi-finger”/ finger swipe support and the 16GB flash storage. The YouTube video leads to Banggood, an online wholesaler/ retailer but I can’t find the specific phone in there. If any one of you has more infor on the GiPhone, just drop us a comment or an email.

Update: readers have been asking if the GiPhone plays SNES games. We don’t know if it supports SNES but we’ll tell you when we the information reaches us; meanwhile, check out our iPhone clone page, and RSS us for updates.

Update 2: someone from Engadget, where this post was linked, found the HiPhone F5 with similar specs as the GiPhone. Go to Banggood.

The video after the break.

I know not many of you have forgotten the Sciphone Dream G2 with the fake Google Android OS. SciPhone is on eheck of a gutsy brand faking Android. Will they get away with it? More importantly, does fake Android approach the goodness of the real Android? Our friends at MP4 Nation has a hands-on review of the SciPhone Dream G2 with speciall attention to the Android knock-off.

Conclusion: the fake Android OS looks like Android without the features of Android. It’s pure aesthetics without the usability of the open mobile OS developed by Google. Curiosly, SciPhone even faked the megapixel count of the 4 MP camera built into the Dream G2. Just about a 2 MP, really. No WiFi, no Android, some Java apps, Bluetooth, Opera Mini, GSM/GPRS only mediocre video playback, has album art… Price is $165.
