iPhone 3.1.3 jailbreak tool sn0wbreeze is now available in v1.5.2 which addresses the issues concerning systems running on 64-bit Windows. Apart from that, file size has also been trimmed down to just 18MB, and is now much faster and more reliable.

For those not familiar with sn0wbreeze, this is the Windows counterpart of the iPhone Dev Team’s PwnageTool. It creates a custom iPhone 3.1.3 IPSW file based on an original one downloaded from the internet for iPhone and iPod Touch models running on the old bootroom.

Once you’ve gotten your iPhone 3.1.3-based device jailbroken, you can then proceed to unlock your iPhone. This, unfortunately, is limited to the current versions of blacksn0w and ultrasn0w both of which are still unable to hack baseband 05.12. Sn0wbreeze may not be as popular as Geohot’s blackra1n iphone jailbreak or the iPhone Dev Team’s PwnageTool/QuickPwn, but hey, it gets the job done, and as they say, the more the merrier, right?

It won’t be until June when we’ll probably see the officially 4G iPhone and a week or two (or even earlier/longer depending on the iPhone OS version it comes with) after that when an appropriate iPhone jailbreak will be released. That’s still more than 2 whole months away. So, p0sixninja, a member of the Chronic Dev Team who have their own set of iPhone jailbreak tools, is setting his eyes on a closer goal, the iPad.

He’s posted over at twitter that he’s already accepting donations to begin work on an appropriate iPad jailbreak (iPhone 3.2 jailbreak), and has provided this screenshot of the latest version of greenpois0n to whet everyone’s appetite. We don’t know exactly how jailbreak-able iPhone OS 3.2 is so we can’t categorically say if what he’s proposing is really possible or not. Nonetheless, the idea of a jailbroken iPad is indeed promising. Just treat this as a heads up that an iPad jailbreak might be released sometime in the near (or distant depending on the support he gets) future.

Microsoft has just officially unveiled the new Phone Marketplace that will complement and probably make or break their recently announced Windows Phone 7 platform.

Apart from the aesthetic changes that’s now streamlined with the new look of the OS, they’ve finally some change to make it more competitive with the Apple App Store and Google’s Android Market. Windows Phone Marketplace now supports credit card purchases, operator billing, and ad-supported content as well as a try-before-you-buy scheme. Purchased apps can be pinned to the Quick Launch screen making it easier to access. It’s also confirmed that the new Windows Phone Marketplace will be the official exclusive distributor of apps for Windows Phone 7. However, enterprise customers will be allowed to directly deploy apps to employees bypassing the Marketplace interface.

It looks like they’ve done a pretty good job in overhauling the whole system to make it more relevant and up-to-date with today’s standards. The question now is, how many apps will the Windows Phone Marketplace have once the first batch of Windows Phone 7-based devices begins to roll out later this year?

In the PR world, this is considered “going rogue,” but I’m too excited to contain it. This is real & dropping soon.

That’s either a jailbroken iPhone running a port of his Tony Hawk Pro Skater game he’s playing around with or a non-public version of an upcoming official Tony Hawk iPhone game. We think that it’s more of the latter. No word though on when it might be released at the App Store, but we’ve got a feeling that it’ll be happening much sooner than later.

For most people, an iPhone jailbreak usually means connecting your iPhone/iPod Touch to a PC, running a program (PwnageTool or blackra1n), waiting for a few seconds and you’re done. However, for always on the go individuals who don’t have time to download the necessary iPhone jailbreak tooks and run them, this might be a bit of a problem.

If your one of those type of guys, you might be interested in the iDongle, a portable device that you plug into the dock connector of the iPhone/iPod Touch which automatically jailbreaks iPhone 3.1.2-based devices complete with tethered boot. Unfortunately, as you can tell in the video, it’s still in development and there are currently only a dozen prototypes in the pipeline. They are accepting pre-orders though to raise enough funds to go into full production.

Scam? We don’t know for sure, but probably not since its iPhone 3.1.2 their jailbreaking. What’s even better is the iDongle’s software can easily be updated via USB opening the doors for an iPhone 3.1.3 jailbreak (or better yet, iPhone 4.0 jailbreak) to be installed on it in the future. iPhone unlocking isn’t supported though, but hey, that’s what ultrasn0w and blacksn0w is for.

iPhone 3.2 beta 4 SDK is out already, and it brings along with it support for new gestures. Found in the gestures folder, 3Tap.plist and LongPress.plist are two new files included in this latest iPhone 3.2 SDK release.

The current iPhone OS doesn’t support three taps, but it does long press which is used to bring up the copy/cut/paste menu. We’re not sure how this differs with the current long press gesture nor do we have an idea what 3 taps does. We’ll probably only find out once the iPad is released by Apple, but how about you guys?

We know that the Windows Phone 7 series comes with Xbox integration, but Microsoft was pretty mum about its other gaming capabilities when they announced it last month. Today, however, we get some more clues as to the future of mobile gaming on this new Microsoft mobile platform.

Developers will now have an easier time creating games for Windows Phone 7 with the help of XNA Game Studio 4.0. This new tool allows developers to create a game/app and make slight modifications to it allowing it to run the Xbox 360, Windows-based PCs, and more importantly, the Windows Phone 7 OS. They confirmed that it comes with hardware accelerated 3D APIs specific for Windows Phone 7. As far as Xbox gaming is concerned, we hear that you can unlock achievements from phone-based games and also comes with “push notifications for asynchronous turn based gaming.”

Unfortunately, that’s all we have for now as Microsoft has opted to still keep everyone in suspense, and will make the next round of announcements at next week’s MIX 2010 event. For what it’s worth, at least we now know how Microsoft is making it easier for developers to create apps for Windows Phone 7.

Tekken made waves in the gaming industry when it was first released more than a decade ago. Today, it’s now confirmed that the Namco iconic game will soon be available on the iPhone as well.

What’s even better is that it’s in the final stages of development already. We’re a bit skeptical though on the fun factor of this version since the iPhone since doesn’t exactly have one of the biggest touchscreens in the market today, but we’re totally digging Tekken for the iPad (if its compatible on the said device).

Will this be a completely new version of Tekken, a rehash of the original game, or an iPhone version of Tekken 6 for the PSP? No one knows for sure right now, but with Capcom also set to release Street Fight IV at the App Store as well, we’re guaranteed of a great showdown between these two renowned arcade fighter games on the iPhone platform.

We know that Windows Phone 7 will be unlike any of its predecessors. This has been a consistent focal point in promoting the new Microsoft mobile OS. Unfortunately, it’s so completely brand new that it won’t even come with backwards compatibility shutting the doors on Windows Mobile 6.5 apps. This has officially been confirmed by Microsoft developer Charlie Kindel. This disappointing bit of news comes just comes days after the sad announcement that there won’t be a Windows Phone 7 upgrade available for existing Windows Mobile devices.

The good part here, though, is that it was likewise revealed that Microsoft won’t be abandoning Windows Mobile 6.5 just yet. It will actually co-exist with Windows Phone 7. They will continue to support the said platform in the years to come, and in fact, new devices based WM 6.5 will still be released in the market.

This will probably give you more than enough time to hold on to your beloved Windows Mobile 6.5 device until the day comes that you finally feel the need to upgrade to a new handset that already runs on Windows Phone 7.
