Meizu is selling the M8 or miniOne phone thru several supply companies. Yes, it’s true. The iPhone’s most famous imitator, which we failed to see at CES, can be bought from Fujian Huaxia Trade Co., Ltd, Samsin Trade Co., Ltd., Fuzhou ZhongTianLi Trade Co., Ltd., and Longxiang Shoes Co., Ltd., among others ( though we counted just four of these suppliers.
As far as we can tell, the specs provided by these suppliers are similar, which means Meizu has finalized the specifications (full specs after the break) and, presumably, the external design of the M8. Contrary to one recent rumor, it does look like iPhone. Most of these suppliers display an M8 photo that will be familiar to all the followers of this phone that always seemed to fail to achieve launch date. All, that is, except Samsin, which is displaying an iPhone-white Meizu M8 (photo used above). Read the rest »

Here’s one Chinese PMP manufacturer that does its iPhone cloning with some originality… putting a kickstand at the back The MP42818 Mp4 from Elijah Industrial is a touch screen MP4 player that “handles writing,” which we take to mean it supports stylus input and quite possibly even handwriting recognition. The 2.8-inch screen gives users 352 x 288-pixels, which should handle video playback quite nicely. A 1.3 megapixel camera and FM tuner built-in doesn’t do any harm either, as well as all the multi-media format it supports natively or with software. The problem is that this is only available wholesale. Battery is a quite on the low-end affording you only 5 hours of music and 3 hours of movie.
Full specs after the break.

UE-Technology’s got another new PMP, but this one doesn’t involve any strange combination of two existing device. The Ue-M4036 supports AMV videos, MP3 audio files (with lyrics display) and JPEG images, and does so with an circle-happy, red-white-and-orange pattern on the housing. Oh, and the GUI icons look like they’ve been left out in the sun too long.
The device has a 2.4-inch TFT display and a USB 2.0 port. It comes with e-book reader functionality, voice recording capability and five EQ settings. The firmware is upgradable, and a tamer-looking white version is also offered for people who like their PMPs a little more low-key.

If you ask online retailer Dragonkicks, the HiPhone C-002 or C-002 HiPhone mimics the iPhone in more than just the looks externally and internally. Not only has this iPhone clone come to being closest copy of the Apple Phone, it is almost just as popular to consumers. And like many imitators of the iPhone, it beats the original in some areas. The C-002 holds two SIM cards at the same time, supports MMS and the built-in camera has video capture capability. Even so, I find the $239 price a little off-putting. I’m not sure why.
Full specs of the C-002 HiPhone (HiPhone C-002) after the break, plus the video.

While iPhone is working hard on slimming down and, ultimately, miniaturizing its products, HTC has the opposite idea. The device the foreign-speaking dude is holding is not an over-sized tablet PC. No, it’s more interesting than that. Clue: it runs Windows Mobile. The guys at PocketPT claims they have talked with top HTC execs. We don’t believe them as I doubt they can either speak Chinese or English (HTC is based in Taiwan).
Video and HTC Magnum has the following specs (after the jump):

This “media box” from Yiwu Haofeng code-named HKA-6501C is a DivX, DVD-playing recycled-looking PMP that also supports playback for such esoteric formats like MP4 (AVI) and HDCD or High Definition Compatible Digital, which is a Microsoft proprietary format that offers backwards compatibility with old CDs. If this is not news to you, it definitely is to me. Apparently, several Windows Media Player versions can play this. Yiwu Haofeng’s device offers a 6.5 inch screen in which to view movies of formats already mentioned and TV in addition to that. We have no idea if it supports digital TV but it definitely receives analog with NTSC/PAL support as well as RDS.
The 6.5-inch viewing real estate offers touch control. It comes with a remote, built-in Bluetooth and GPS. Something called Electronic Anti-Shock Protection either prevents damage on the device from accidental drops or prevents users from electrocution. For a company that only employs 10 people, they do make machines with some kind of awesome in them. Oh, did I mention it plays music too?
A more complete list of what this Cloverfield-class PMP can do follows after the break.

Freecontrom seems to bounce back and forth between positively generic and highly unique products, and the CR2400 definitely falls under the latter category. It supports MPEG-4 videos, MP3 and WMA audio files (with ID3 tags and lyrics display), and JPEG and BMP images on its 2.4-inch QVGA TFT display.
The device has eight EQ settings including 3D and SRS, a microphone for voice recording and a USB 2.0 port. It comes with line-in, e-book reader and FM radio (with recording) capability, and allows use as an alarm clock. Not that you’d need it, though, since the color alone can shock you awake.

Tell me, does a digital camcorder cross the line between camcorder to PMP when it’s equipped with portable game console features and music and video playback? The AgfaPhoto DV-5000G is a five-megapixel, 720 x 480 camcorder with a mere 64MB internal memory, so I guess you’ll want to slip in an SD card when you take videos with this thing. The DV-5000G also functions as a games console and is pre-equipped with 20 classic games (Tetris, Blackjack, etc), which you Read the rest »
