HTC has announced that they’ve already begun shipping this Windows Mobile 6.5-powered 4.3-inch touchscreen-equipped 5-megapixel camera phone to Europe and Asia, and barring any delays, it’ll definitely be available in most markets in time for the early holiday shopping rush. This also supports the previous report that it will be available in the UK by November 11th. As far as the US is concerned, they’ll have to wait until the New Year festivities are over before they can get their HTC HD2 as its slated to debut sometime in early 2010. No word on who will be releasing it in the US, but T-Mobile is currently the top candidate to do so.

We’ve just gotten word that the HTC HD2 will be available in the UK beginning November 11th via the Clove for £469 (excluding VAT) or roughly $740. This is an unlocked version of the HTC HD2 which packs a massive 4.3-inch touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5-megapixel autofocus camera, and Windows Mobile 6.5 were talking about here so don’t act surprised that it’s priced a little bit on the steep side. Anyway, if you want to save a few bucks along the way, you could opt to wait for either T-Mobile or O2 to unveil their HTC HD2 packages, but as to when that will exactly happen, we haven’t got the slightest clue yet. Needless to say, Clove is currently your best bet if you plan to be among the first batch of HTC HD 2 owners in the UK.

There’s a bit of controversy with regards to the announcement of the HTC HD 2. It’s quite simple. if the ZuneHD can be considered an iPod Touch killer, then surely HTC’s HD 2 is an iPhone killer. The most obvious the HD2 has over the iPhone is its massive 4.3-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen. This is quite ordinary in the PMP market, but for a cellphone it seems to be a throwback to the era of PDAs. Of course, the success of the HD2 depends on how good Windows Mobile 6.5 will be. To be sure, even if the handy Apple iPhone still remains on top of the list of smartphones for casual everyday users, the HTC HD 2 has a good case for top spot among business users.

With a number of Windows Mobile 6.5 devices now official, it’s only fitting that we’ve finally got an update on Windows Mobile 7, the OS which shouldn’t have been released this year.

Documents have been unearthed confirming that the new RTM for Microsoft’s next Windows Mobile platform is scheduled sometime around April of next year. Considering that once manufacturers received this OS they’ll still have to test it out on their hardware and tweak it even further, it’ll take several more months before they can release a WM 7-enabled device to the public. Thus, it’s now looking more unlikely that we’ll see one debut earlier than the 2H of 2010. This is definitely devastating news for those hoping to bag a Windows Mobile 7 device early next year.

On a somewhat good note, it was discovered that a Microsoft Office Mobile 7 suite is in the pipeline as well. There’s still a lot we don’t know about Office Mobile 7 aside from that it will work nicely with WM 7, but rest assured, we’ll be reporting more about this once additional info is made available.

Apparently, the original launch slated for June 11th was postponed to October so it’s only now that we’re getting the full lowdown on what this new Samsung Armani phone is all about.

Aside from having Windows Mobile 6.5 as its OS, this new Armani phone boasts of a 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, GPS, full slide-out QWERTY keypad, microSD card slot and 8GB internal memory. Expected to retail for €700 or roughly $1030 in the greenback, we’re certainly hoping that WiFi and HSPA connectivity will be part of the package, and a set equally delectable accessories wouldn’t hurt either. No word though on when it will be released, but rest assured, we’ll report more on this once the information is made available.

The previous HTC Leo video wasn’t that long and didn’t actually a good look at the phone itself. Fortunately, we’ve now got this new video showcasing this upcoming HTC touchscreen phone. Not only is it a whole lot lengthier, but it also provides us a better idea of its responsiveness and other features. It’s already impressive on paper, but it even becomes more stunning in live action. Needless to say, after watching this new video preview of the HTC Leo, we’re even now more star struck with this yet-to-be-official device. Hopefully, it will finally be announced next month when a bunch of other Windows Mobile 6.5-powered phones such as the Acer F1 are expected to be launched as well.

Word is that it will be among the first batch of Windows Mobile 6.5 devices that will be launched next month. What’s even better than that is its rumored price of just £295 or $482. With the Acer F1 boasting of a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5-megapixel autofocus camera, WiFi, tri-band HSDPA connectivity, and 3.8-inch 480×800 toucshcreen display, that’s quite reasonable for a phone of its caliber. Likewise, with its specs, this is definitely one of the phones worth considering if and when it debuts next month. Of course, this is nothing compared to the HTC Leo, but we highly doubt the Leo will be as affordable as this one.

HTC has definitely been ramping up production on their Android phone offerings with the announcement of the HTC Tattoo, but that doesn’t mean their completely abandoning their Windows Mobile line-up. In fact, we’ve got something very big to look forward to in the near future in the form of the HTC Leo.

Aptly named after the king of the jungle, the HTC Leo can also be considered as the king of touchscreen phones with its massive 4.2-inch 800×480 WVGA display, and we’re lucky enough to get treated to this video demonstrating its multi-touch capabilities and video playback as well.

[mobiletechworld via bgr, picture via pda.pl]
More after the break.
To give you a better idea of how big its display really is, here’s a side-by-side snapshot of it beside the Touch Pro2. Apart from that, it also comes with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5-megapixel autofocus camera with flash, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR support, GPS, HSDPA connectivity, 3.5mm jack, 512MB ROM/320MB RAM, and runs on Windows Mobile 6.5. Not bad, eh?

Rumor has it that it will be launched in October though pricing is still yet to be known. However, given its mouth-watering specs, it’s safe to assume this will be more on the steep end of the pricing range.
