There’s a bit of controversy with regards to the announcement of the HTC HD 2. It’s quite simple. if the ZuneHD can be considered an iPod Touch killer, then surely HTC’s HD 2 is an iPhone killer. The most obvious the HD2 has over the iPhone is its massive 4.3-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen. This is quite ordinary in the PMP market, but for a cellphone it seems to be a throwback to the era of PDAs.  Of course, the success of the HD2 depends on how good Windows Mobile 6.5 will be. To be sure, even if the handy Apple iPhone still remains on top of the list of smartphones for casual everyday users, the HTC HD 2 has a good case for top spot among business users.

Documents have been unearthed confirming that the new RTM for Microsoft’s next Windows Mobile platform is scheduled sometime around April of next year. Considering that once manufacturers received this OS they’ll still have to test it out on their hardware and tweak it even further, it’ll take several more months before they can release a WM 7-enabled device to the public. Thus, it’s now looking more unlikely that we’ll see one debut earlier than the 2H of 2010. This is definitely devastating news for those hoping to bag a Windows Mobile 7 device early next year.

On a somewhat good note, it was discovered that a Microsoft Office Mobile 7 suite is in the pipeline as well. There’s still a lot we don’t know about Office Mobile 7 aside from that it will work nicely with WM 7, but rest assured, we’ll be reporting more about this once additional info is made available.

Aside from having Windows Mobile 6.5 as its OS, this new Armani phone boasts of a 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, GPS, full slide-out QWERTY keypad, microSD card slot and 8GB internal memory. Expected to retail for €700 or roughly $1030 in the greenback, we’re certainly hoping that WiFi and HSPA connectivity will be part of the package, and a set equally delectable accessories wouldn’t hurt either. No word though on when it will be released, but rest assured, we’ll report more on this once the information is made available.

No word though on when these will be released elsewhere, but it should only be just a matter of time for this to happen once these finally go on retail in the UK.

The previous HTC Leo video wasn’t that long and didn’t actually a good look at the phone itself. Fortunately, we’ve now got this new video showcasing this upcoming HTC touchscreen phone. Not only is it a whole lot lengthier, but it also provides us a better idea of its responsiveness and other features. It’s already impressive on paper, but it even becomes more stunning in live action. Needless to say, after watching this new video preview of the HTC Leo, we’re even now more star struck with this yet-to-be-official device. Hopefully, it will finally be announced next month when a bunch of other Windows Mobile 6.5-powered phones such as the Acer F1 are expected to be launched as well.

Aptly named after the king of the jungle, the HTC Leo can also be considered as the king of touchscreen phones with its massive 4.2-inch 800×480 WVGA display, and we’re lucky enough to get treated to this video demonstrating its multi-touch capabilities and video playback as well.

To give you a better idea of how big its display really is, here’s a side-by-side snapshot of it beside the Touch Pro2. Apart from that, it also comes with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5-megapixel autofocus camera with flash, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR support, GPS, HSDPA connectivity, 3.5mm jack, 512MB ROM/320MB RAM, and runs on Windows Mobile 6.5. Not bad, eh?

Rumor has it that it will be launched in October though pricing is still yet to be known. However, given its mouth-watering specs, it’s safe to assume this will be more on the steep end of the pricing range.

This QWERTY-equipped touchscreen slider still follows the traditional form factor of the XPERIA X1, but ups the ante with a larger 3.5-inch 3.2-inch OLED display, 8.1-megapixel autofocus camera, GPS/A-GPS, Google Maps, DNLA support, TV out functionality, 512MB RAM, and Windows Mobile 6.5 as its mobile OS. In addition to that, it will ship with a 4GB microSD card and a TV cable as part of the standard package as well. Its price is still yet to be known, but it was revealed that the XPERIA X2 will be launched in select markets across the globe in Q4 2009.
