A Windows Mobile 6.5 device with a 6-inch E-Ink screen. That’s what Cube has announce and although they haven’t supplied a product photo, they already have a cute girl standing by to model this unnamed gadget. Further specs revelation gives us a touchscreen that is supposed to be similar to iPhone–multitouch?–and WiFi connectivity with VoIP support.

For 999 yuan ($146), it’s intriguing how Cube is actually going to get this idea into production. Seriously, this will put the entire market on its head. It’s not merely the price, but the choice of Windows Mobile as an operating system and the inclusion of VoIP.

This time around, the iPhone Dev Team beat Geohot to the punch with the release of the first iPhone 3.1.3 jailbreak in the form of PwnageTool 3.1.5 for the Mac platform. This should definitely bring a smile to the faces of jailbreaking aficionados out there interested in upgrading to iPhone OS 3.1.3.

This is compatible with all versions of the iPhone and iPod Touch though it won’t work on iPhone 3G S and 2G iPod Touch units with the new bootrom loaded on it. However, the iPhone Dev Team still warns people who enjoy their unlocked and jailbroken iPhones to stay away from this latest iPhone firmware update unless they really feel the need to upgrade to it to address some serious issues. iPhone 3G S users who are already on 3.1.3 also need to downgrade to iPhone 3.1.2 for this particular jailbreak to work.

They have a bunch of other precautions listed on their site that they strongly recommend you read before trying this out. If you still have the same desire to give PwnageTool 3.1.5 a go after reading all their warnings, go ahead. Just don’t forget to hit us up in the comments section below as we’d certainly love to hear your take on this latest PwnageTool.

Redmond just dropped the prices of Zune HD. The OLED Microsoft PMP now sells at least $20 below its original price for the the 16GB and 32GB versions. This may have been prompted by the announcement of the Apple iPad, but that tablet device will not be released until March though few expects the iPad to be a device that competes with the much smaller Microsoft PMP.

It’s far better to speculate a new Microsoft product is on the way. A bigger capacity 64GB Zune HD perhaps? Or Windows Phone 7? But an under-$200 16GB Zune HD doesn’t sound too bad right now.

Here’s an update on the much anticipated next version of Microsoft’s mobile operating system, Windows Mobile 7 aka Windows Phone 7.

There’s no definite confirmation yet if it will indeed be launched at MWC next week, but if it does make an appearance at the grand event in Barcelona, word is that it will just be a preview of its interface and not a full in-depth introduction. Furthermore, it’s now being reported that the entire interface has been overhauled and replaced with a Zune HD inspired UI based on a project codenamed “Metro.” Confirming what we previously reported about Windows Phone 7 ME, they latest round of rumors also mention that there’s both Xbox and Zune integration as well as social networking support.

On the downside, however, there won’t be NETCF backwards compatibility for older applications. Multitasking has also apparently been given the boot and Flash support won’t be there either. Is Windows Phone 7 doing an iPhone? One might think so, but let’s not forget, all of these are yet to be confirmed. For now, just treat this as a heads up of what to look out for when Windows Phone 7 officially get unveiled either this month or later this year.

Is this a legitimate iPad competitor?

One of the best PMP makers we can recommend is RAmos. Their PMPs are not usually lookers but they do make a lot of models and are reliable enough for online purchases. The most fancied RAmos device last year was the W7 MID, which has also included a version running the Android OS. Now, a most interesting development. The RAmos W7 may actually support the Android Market place. The 4.8-inch screen of the W7 may be among the biggest portable screen you’ll likely see with Google’s Android Marketplace support. Hopefully, we’ll get an official announcement and a demo video soon of the W7 with Android apps.

We’re not quite sure what possessed Motorola to come up with the unique back-flipping design of the Motorola Backflip, but it seems that they’ve got more interesting form factors lined up for the future as evidenced by this leaked image of the Motorola MOTOSPLIT.

This upcoming Android phone features a dual-slide mechanism with dynamically changing keys for multi-purpose functionality.

Here’s some additional info provided by the source of this image:

The keyboard keys are inset and probably have no tactile feedback, however, they should be quite easy to use. It looks like the cutouts are pretty finger-friendly, as they contour to the shape of a standard finger. Under those cutouts is a low-resolution monochrome touch screen, one for each side of the keyboard. This is where the finger presses. The contact area is small, but the plastic grid that surrounds it contours to the fingers. The label and function of each key can be changed to suit certain layouts and applications.

The keyboard has multiple orientations. The keyboard can be pulled from side to side for typing on a surface. A small kickstand angles the phone when typing in this manner. The keyboard can also be pulled to the left for a standard landscape layout. There is also a dial-pad layout.

The specifications are slightly different than previously posted. The MOTOSPLIT uses the same processor as the BACKFLIP. Every other spec is almost the same as the BACKFLIP.

So basically, this is more or less the same as the Backlip but packaged in a whole new form factor. The MOTOSPLIT should hit AT&T sometime in Q3 2010 with pricing still yet to be known. Hopefully, Motorola will have MOTOSPLIT prototype ready for this month’s MWC event in Barcelona.

Confirmed on-board are WiFi with full HSPA connectivity compatible with the likes of AT&T, Rogers, Telus and Bell, and EDGE on the side. No word though on when it will be released, but on the good side though, at least it has already conquered its first obstacle in becoming available in the land of Uncle Sam.

Based on what they showed off at CES, the Dell Mini 5 should come with 5-inch touchscreen display, 5-megapixel camera, and a SIM card lot. If you want to see it live in action, you can likewise check out the Dell Mini 5 video demo.

The P88 runs Windows 7, it’s also a multitouch tablet and lasts one and a half hours on a full charge. The P88 actually looks like a widescreen device, which isn’t what the iPad is. It’s also very thick and uses hard disk drive for storage. There’s a very logical reason why Great Long Brother might be thinking Apple stole their design for the iPad: they copied the Apple iPad case and came out with a tablet before the announcement on January 27th.

Apparently, Apple has made a humongous mistake in cloning Shenzen’s Great Long Brother Industrial’s P88 Tablet. The company might sue Apple!

President Wu Xiaolong: “I was very angry and flabbergasted when I saw the news of the iPad presentation two days ago… It is certainly our design. They’ve stolen because we present our P88 to everyone six months ago at the IFA (International Electronics Fair in Berlin).”

He says the P88 (shown above) is identical with the Apple iPad, which was recently announced and slated for a March release. The P88 runs Windows 7 and costs $525, signficantly more than the lowest-range iPad. Though Great Long Brother has applied a patent for the P88 tablet, Chinese authorities take a year before they give approval.
