iPhone 4G Rumor Update: 10 New Amazing Features, e.g. Multitasking

They are not all amazing and, indeed, we don’t know the half of it, but try this: 3Tap and LongPress. If the names aren’t suggestive enough for you, word is that more gesture control will be available for the iPhone 4G via the next SDK. Perhaps the big news so far: real multitasking for the iPhone 4G, which will enable the phone to run multiple applications in the background at the same time. On top of these very fine rumors is a poll suggesting a Verizon iPhone is what customers really want. Very odd as I used to believe people want the iPhone for its advanced features, never mind the bad service they’re getting currently.

Huawei SmaKit S7: How Much Would You Price This Android Tablet

Thu, Mar 11, 2010

One of China’s biggest companies, Huawei makes just about everything. Displaying the SmaKit S7 at CeBIT, you’d be forgiven to think that Huawei has world conquest next on its list. The 7-inch Android tablet runs Android 1.6, supports 720p videos and rocks 3G connectivity. The lack of stylishness would be prohibitive for most buyers who would’ve set their sights on the iPad anyway.

So how much do you think should the Huawei SmaKit S7 cost? Oh, that voice behind the video? That’s famous tech video journalist Charbax.

iPhone 3.2 SDK beta 4 released, Bundled with New Gestures

Wed, Mar 10, 2010

iPhone 3.2 beta 4 SDK is out already, and it brings along with it support for new gestures. Found in the gestures folder, 3Tap.plist and LongPress.plist are two new files included in this latest iPhone 3.2 SDK release.

The current iPhone OS doesn’t support three taps, but it does long press which is used to bring up the copy/cut/paste menu. We’re not sure how this differs with the current long press gesture nor do we have an idea what 3 taps does. We’ll probably only find out once the iPad is released by Apple, but how about you guys? Any guesses on what these new gestures are for?

Microsoft XNA Game Studio 4.0 to make Windows Phone 7 game development easier

We know that the Windows Phone 7 series comes with Xbox integration, but Microsoft was pretty mum about its other gaming capabilities when they announced it last month. Today, however, we get some more clues as to the future of mobile gaming on this new Microsoft mobile platform.

xbox-live-3d-apis-xna

Developers will now have an easier time creating games for Windows Phone 7 with the help of XNA Game Studio 4.0. This new tool allows developers to create a game/app and make slight modifications to it allowing it to run the Xbox 360, Windows-based PCs, and more importantly, the Windows Phone 7 OS. They confirmed that it comes with hardware accelerated 3D APIs specific for Windows Phone 7. As far as Xbox gaming is concerned, we hear that you can unlock achievements from phone-based games and also comes with “push notifications for asynchronous turn based gaming.

Unfortunately, that’s all we have for now as Microsoft has opted to still keep everyone in suspense, and will make the next round of announcements at next week’s MIX 2010 event. For what it’s worth, at least we now know how Microsoft is making it easier for developers to create apps for Windows Phone 7.

k-touch_x901

The brand-name is obviously knock-offish (it’s really K-Tcuoh X90+ and note K-Touch X90+) and indeed we’ve seen this design before (please leave a message in the comments section if you know the original), but we have to say we like the idea and the price. For $138.99, you get a touchscreen phone with a rotating keypad. It also has dual cameras, dual SIM, an FM tuner and analog TV. The screen rotates on the keypad below up to a 180-degree angle. It looks like a fun and practical cellphone, and it’s got enough features to justify twice the retail price. Click the link below for more.

Update: It seems the K-Tcuoh X90+ is a clone of none other than the K-Touch X90. The original goes for a little over $200.

More Update: Thanks to our commenter Johan Krüger-Hagler we have now identified the original, original of the K-Tcuoh and the K-Touch… the Nokia 7705 Twist.

Great Long Brother Pay Back Apple Thieves with OS X Clone

If you remember a little known Chinese manufacturer by the name of Great Long Brother, they have taken their war with Apple one step further. First they claim Apple stole their design for the P88 for the iPad. Then after much silence from the Cupertino company and much patience on the side of Great Long Brother, the latter has decided to take the law in its own hands by cloning the Apple OS X for none other than the P88. According to Crunchgear, the operating system beneath the OS X skin is Windows 7. Hopefully, this is a war of attrition Microsoft won’t be tempted to join.

Rumor: iPhone OS 4.1 to unify iPhone, iPad

Tue, Mar 9, 2010

We know that iPhone OS 3.2 exists and that the iPad will debut with the said firmware. There has also been evidence to support rumors of an iPhone OS 4.0 being in the works as well. So, which of the two iPhone OS versions will unify both Apple devices? According to The Loop, it might be neither.

ipad-iphoneGiven the current timeline Apple is working with (iPhone OS 4.0 expected to debut this June with the release of the 4G iPhone), it’s highly likely that the particular iPhone OS which will tie-up both devices won’t be available until iPhone OS 4.1. We’ve heard a lot from iPhone OS 3.2, and it might not be made available on the iPhone given that it’s got specific features and settings that’ll only work with the iPad. Add to that the possibility of iPhone OS 4.0 becoming available as early as June, just a few months away from the release of the iPad, we’re starting to doubt it as well. With iPhone OS 4.1, on the other hand, they’ve got more than enough time to plan it out and develop it accordingly.

Anyway, this is pure speculation at the moment, and with Apple, you never really know. For what it’s worth, if ever firmware 3.2 doesn’t get released for the iPhone, I’m pretty sure there will be some resourceful folks out there who will be able to port the iPad OS to the Apple mobile phone.

iPhone Tekken game confirmed being developed by Namco

Mon, Mar 8, 2010

Tekken made waves in the gaming industry when it was first released more than a decade ago. Today, it’s now confirmed that the Namco iconic game will soon be available on the iPhone as well.

iphone-tekken

What’s even better is that it’s in the final stages of development already. We’re a bit skeptical though on the fun factor of this version since the iPhone since doesn’t exactly have one of the biggest touchscreens in the market today, but we’re totally digging Tekken for the iPad (if its compatible on the said device).

Will this be a completely new version of Tekken, a rehash of the original game, or an iPhone version of Tekken 6 for the PSP? No one knows for sure right now, but with Capcom also set to release Street Fight IV at the App Store as well, we’re guaranteed of a great showdown between these two renowned arcade fighter games on the iPhone platform.

HP has been very active in the netbook business having released quite a number of models already since the debut of the HP Mini Note 2133. Now that the trend is veering towards the direction of full touchscreeen tablets, it’s not surprising that HP will also be releasing a slate PC of their own this year. When this will exactly happen we still don’t know, but we do have this video courtesy HP and Adobe demonstrating its capabilities in front of the camera.
